FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition and 2018 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

And we all know Cow has a standing offer to go to AC IT.
I wouldn't call anything a standing offer.

I had what was basically an open invitation to discussions before three people left AC.

I would never agree to that. However, I would be willing to sign the required documents to make it possible, assuming the FT administration made the same commitment.

@expert7700 thank you for the input. My only issue is the emergency fund. The rest is in a reasonable state.

I noticed this interview with an FTer:

From child prodigy to seasoned pro: Classical pianist Jan Lisiecki on music and Mendelssohn

You might try asking that on either the Bogleheads forum (www.bogleheads.org/forum) US-centric or their sister Canadian forum, Financial Wisdom Forum (www.financialwisdomforum.org/forum). Lots of helpful, non-commercial, discussion on those forums.

The only fear I have is people saying "well if we'd had KD and Klay" etc... But then, injuries are a part of the game. And if your team only got where they are due to 40% of your team, are they actually that good of a team?

If you're referring to "GS would've beat Raps if the star players weren't injured", then I agree - injury is all part of the game.
But we're not referring to that... we're more on the "hope they don't come back too soon so we can kick their butts more easily, but not necessarily that easy"

Golden State won the 2015 title due to LeBron having to carry the entire team on his back (Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love out). In 2017, Kawhi Leonard was killing GS until Pachulia put his foot under him and took San Antonio out effectively. Leonard not being able to play 2018 gave GS a clear path to the finals. If you ask me, I don’t feel sorry for the Warriors.

Toronto beat them twice in the regular season (Kevin Durant played in the overtime game), and one was without Leonard. Toronto was one poor third quarter away from being up 3-0. Toronto’s defence is pretty good, although some might call it “janky”.

Clicked on a thread I'd not seen recently and saw a post by our dear @24left; then noticed it was from February

Yes, that's the sort of comment I meant. Winning in 5 works for me (or 6 or 7).

Googled it, janky: of extremely poor or unreliable quality. Hmmm. 7h to go.

Quote from my 12 year old son who has little interest in Basketball.

"The more my teacher makes us cheer for the Raptors, the more I want to cheer for Golden State."

Sometimes kids are just contrary.

Even the referees couldn't help out the Warriors. Lots of poor calls (or non-calls) in favour of the Warriors tonight.
