This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition and 2018 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

TIL CBP gets annoyed when "I'm not sure yet" is your response when asked what your plans are for the destination you're visiting as a tourist

Yeah I've had that reaction in various countries. On one flight to the UK, I booked a hotel while on board because I was worried they'd ask where I was staying. I was correct to be worried.

Nathan Phillips Square if you want to listen to the rally and see players (and Drake and his chips and dip) speak.

Yeah the conversation didn't get any better from there. After learning that this wasn't my first time in SF, she asked what I'd done previous times, and found it ridiculous that I went to the US to "drive on a highway" (the Pacific Coast Highway).

Oh well, at least the weather here is nicer than Edmonton

Reminds me of trying to explain (using Google Translate and hand gestures) to a Russian immigration officer that I was taking a train from Tashkent to Moscow for entertainment.

Do you know what time they're getting to Nathan Phillips Square?

yyznomad, @24left, et @jasdou lunched at a chateau
the prior night had dinner and Kit Kat gateau
under the auspices of a @jasdou
with @DNAwizard surprise out of the blue
It was a fun weekend by the river
it's not the winter so we didn't shiver
@24left saw my legs all white and pasty
everything we ate was nice and tasty
we gorged on non-lounge food

I think I heard 12:30 on the news. Along with 1.5 - 2 million people. Itíll be insane, a bit like areas of YYZ sometimes Staying well clear of downtown Toronto tomorrow.

Thanks. Iím debating standing by for an earlier flight so I can have a sufficiently long connection to check out some of the festivities. How bad can it be? 😬

I wish I didn't have to head to the office tomorrow. I have a lunch meeting on King West so will have to cross the parade route twice, hopefully I can time it well to avoid the masses.

I have a 2:30 out of YYZ. Normally, I'd head from the office (close to Nathan Phillips Square). I'll work from home instead, much as I'd like to check out the scene.
