I posted a thread about that earlier this year after the head of *A made some comments. There are also articles out there quoting his comments (or musings)

IMHO, the value I got/felt as a OW E (from
being an AA EXP) was better than what I get as a *G

I am not surprised. In the Alliance, there are airlines giving lifetime *G status to people after they fly what you do in 15 months. How can one feel they are getting maximum value under circumstances like that.

I hope *A does add another tier. I wouldn’t expect myself to qualify in any case but it would be nice to see some of you hardcore folk get a higher level of treatment than I do (or people who barely do 50k a year for that matter) on partner airlines.

Well I will probably not make any friends with this comment but I don’t believe that all SE are equal. I do think some SE (high revenue) get better treatment than others. Is that equivalent to GS? Probably not but it probably isn’t as far from it as the treatment a SE who flies 100,001 AQM and spends $20,001 AQD. Just an opinion.

@ridefar
I agree with your comments. And, I don't care who likes it or doesn't. The world itself is not an equal place despite efforts by many to pretend it is.

All UA GS members are not equal. AC MMs are not equal. SEs are not equal. Nor should they be. Variations on spend may be one reason, personalities may be another, visibility and frequency of flights may be another.

I believe AC has a minimum standard to which they would like all services and benefits etc applied to each VIP, MMs and SEs etc.

Also keep in mind that some AC MMs and SEs prefer to be invisible and not receive any attention at all.

@ridefar and @24left

You can see from my comments up-thread that as a low revenue SE I completely agree with you. It is a bit silly that I theoretically get the same treatment as someone who has flown 900k miles and spends $40k a year while I fly 150-200k and spend $25k.

I'm happy that I will be treated well next year but would not feel irked for even one second if I saw someone else being treated even better with the assumption they are worth twice what I am to AC.

I don't know what better treatment one is talking about. As far as I know, the only real difference between an SE and an AC VIP is that the VIP's are entitled to concierge escort from check in to the airplane door and they similarly get met at the airplane door and escorted out of the airport. However, one of the two I know refuses the escort.

Perhaps they get their meal order first even ahead of SE's. If you ranked SE's what other treatment would you want order of meal taking.? What else is there you all SE's have a phone number that gets answered and access to concierges who will try and solve your problems and a super short line for checkin. I guess the one thing they could give is access to the Signature Suite like LH does for its SE's into their first class lounge and terminal but with only one suite so far who cares.

actually you earn it by being friends of AC executives in a lot of cases. Suppliers to AC are also invited.

This explains a situation I saw coming off a plane at CDG a couple of months back. There was a concierge waiting for someone immediately outside the plane door. She greeted the customer by name and he very quickly said "thanks for meeting me but I specifically asked for no escort". She apologized and disappeared as quickly as she appeared.

Yes. In that situation, you're a much more profitable customer, and I would expect you to get better treatment.

Even I can get through to AC on the phone but I always allocate at least 30 minutes for this.

A person who has flown 900K miles and spent only 40k with AC is probably unprofitable to AC. That's only 4.4c per mile.

Heck, if prices were that cheap, I'd be 3MM by now and have SE for life.

To be fair you don't always get the Super Elite desk but you do get through to an agent quickly.

I meant lifetime, as in, not having reached MM yet, therefore the same status as me.
