New amenity kits

Got the new amenity kit on today's HKG-YVR flight. They're blue and no longer distinguish between male and female. The contents are made by 'Deserving Thyme'. The usual stuff plus a towel, lotion, face mist & temple balm. Also a gift certificate for free gift if you buy $25 or more of deserving thyme products at Sears.

I got all three kinds of amenity kits just in the past 6 days.

By all three kinds I think you mean the male, female and the new one?

Do we want to know what you had to do to get the female one?!?!!? :-)

No - not the female one.

I got the 2 different male ones (the black one on YUL-LHR and the long one on YVR-HKG) and the new one on HKG-YVR today.

Unisex kits? I don't think this would be an imporvement? Men and women have very different needs, I just don't see how you can offer unisex kits and call it a premium product and sure I also don't understand how much money they could possibly save by making it unisex. And it's the type of decision that pleases no one - men won't like it because some of them will feel it's feminant while women would tend to think whoever thought of that is unsensitive and total lack of tact.

That's a female kit. Saw that on YVR-HKG and that was for female while male got a different color/shape one.

Probably because they only loaded those on. I found out that was the female kit because someone I flew with asked for one of those to give to his girlfriend. The contents were good enough for either male or female.

I don't know if this was an "abby normal" kit but the one distributed on AC 853 (66 pax on a 763) this past Monday was:

a translucent vinyl pouch containing:

An eye shade - with cotton side
toothbrush and toothpaste
Sockettes
Do not Disturb sticker

Not much better than what BA gives out in the back.

That's it! The new Air Canada can offer a new product - seats on BA!

That must be the westbound kit. Typically they give out the new blue ones on the overnight flights but not on the daytime ones.

The kits are a waste of money how many do we need? Just give me the eye shades. Oh and give the person beside me toothpaste and brush just in case
