YUL/YVR-Dublin going to a funny 330

Air Canada S19 Dublin aircraft changes

Posted 1 November 2018 06:30

Air Canada in recent inventory update filed aircraft changes for Montreal – Dublin route, in summer 2019 season. From 15JUN19, the seasonal service will be operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, replacing 737 MAX 8. The A330 aircraft operating this route is leased from other carriers, with Business Class Cabin sold as Premium Economy.

AC818 YUL2115 – 0830+1DUB 333 246
AC819 DUB1015 – 1205YUL 333 246

Separately, the airline’s Vancouver – Dublin service is also expected to be operated by A330, replacing rouge Boeing 767. At time this post goes to press, actual booking continues to display rouge Boeing 767 operating.

AC862 YVR1520 – 0830+1DUB 333 x246
AC863 DUB1015 – 1140YVR 333 x246

The SQ comment I read elsewhere as well but regarding the leasing in general, from earlier in the year (various sources):

"Following a thorough fleet analysis, we have decided to invest CAD275 million dollars (USD213.5 million) in our Airbus A330 fleet, eight of which are owned and fully unencumbered and four of which are under lease arrangements with delivery scheduled in 2019," CFO Mike Rousseau added.
So there's at least another three more aircraft which will be in the system.

There are now flying with TP, but originally from SQ. When the new Fins are introduced they will not be reconfigured to AC's standards, so the original SQ regional business class seat will still exist until the end of 2019. These will instead be sold as PE, and not J.

Thanks @yyznomad - You are the czar of search on FT.

Either that or you have a truly phenomenal memory.

Thanks, but I consider @24left to be the czar. I'm just a czar in training.

I also have an ok memory, but only with things I'm interested in.

(All I knew is to look in the 330 refurb master thread, because this is about 330s)

YULDUB and YULALG are not the only routes these Four Lions will go to... I wonder which ones the others will be...

YYZ-DUB is not moving to the Y/PY only A330 config. YUL/YVR-DUB are, in addition to YUL-ALG.

You're right it's not YYZDUB. I took it from the OP's thread title.

I changed my post above to say YULDUB.

Anyone know what do the SQ J seats look like on these A330s? If they are the same as the ones on their regional 777-200ER and 777-300, then that's much better than AC PY and AC narrowbody J. They are more similar to the J seats on those A343s and A345s.

Also if I recall correctly, there is a F cabin on some if not all SQ A330s. Do these one have F cabin?

These are the regional SQ 330s which do not have an F cabin.

From Lucky's article, he has pictures of a Fiji cabin noting that it's the same seats (paraphrased) as SQ, but if you dig deeper into the article there are links that IIRC take you to other articles which then lead to actual pics, but here's the Fiji J pic:

And SQ seats don't deflate.

If AC is indeed getting these "PY" seats on the new A330s, then I have nothing to complain

They are indeed selling these as international PY at this very moment (Lucky does a mock booking and pulls up the seat chart, so this is not some sort of speculation - it's absolute fact), hence the positive comments made in the 330 refurb master thread after @ChrisA330 posted all of this information.

Keep in mind this will only be the case for summer before they go in for interior reconfig to the 777/787 standard.
