Promotion: Buy miles for as low as 1.5 cents/mile.
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else received this promotion by email? And if you thought it would be worth it?
Limited-time offer just for you!
Buy miles for as low as 1.5 cents/mile.
We can see you've been earning miles towards a great destination and we want to help you get there sooner.
Until September 23, 2018, you can buy miles and depending on the amount you purchase, you'll pay between 2.5 cents/mile and as low as 1.5 cents/mile. The more you buy, the less you pay per mile, which means you could save hundreds of dollars!
miles you could buy - total cost, plus taxes
3000 - $75
10,000 - $220
25,000 - $450
60,000 - $900

If this is 1.5 Canadian cents per mile, that's pretty good.
Can you share any more information about yourself?
Do you have Aeroplan status (Black, Silver, Diamond)?
Do you have Altitude status (Prestige, Elite 35/50/75, Super Elite, VIP)?
Have you recently searched for any itineraries for which you did not have enough miles to complete the purchase? If so, how many were you short?
Personally, I wouldn't buy them at that rate, but that's because I don't need them.

If one is SE and has IKK available and no YQ, then 1.5c per mile is very attractive (assuming first these are Canadian cents as CC has pointed out).
Example:
Flight for family members at March break to MBJ is $1200 r/t. 40K Miles here would be $600 plus perhaps $150 in taxes and fees.

Definitely of potentially usage if they are Canadian and especially if one has some/high status.
I wonder if tax is included, at 13% $900 becomes $1,017 and I believe that’s higher rates East (QC, NB, NL, NS, PEI)? If not others. Which is 1.7c.

Most of my miles were from transferring via marriott points.
As some of you were wondering. I am canadian, from ontario, and it charges tax on top of the proce listed above.

I guess half a million miles for $14k could be considered good value. Although if one spends that on EYW they likely earn another 150-200k miles (inc bonuses) by actually flying and getting SE status to use them efficiently?
Not that I got an offer. Or know how much people actually spent on EYW.

I also got an email for an offer to buy at 2.5 cents per mile. I have diamond status. Redeemed 165,000 miles in the spring, my trip starts next month. Have only been doing searches related to the trip (trying to change some legs of it).

Diamond status here, and received 1.5 cents offer. I have 58K miles in my account. Redeemed 155K earlier this year, and also purchased 40K for a different 150K trip.
I'll probably buy 60K worth of miles.

I wonder how you get these offers? I'm Diamond and never get squat.
