Transfer Marriott Points To Aeroplan And Get A 35% Bonus

Sep. 11, 2018

It takes a lot of cajones to offer a 35% transfer bonus when you can't book half the airlines you purport to offer.

Marriott to Aeroplan 35% transfer bonus

I just noticed this post on Gary Leff's blog announcing a 35% bonus for Marriott to Aeroplan transfers. 4 days only (Sept 13-17)
60K Marriott will get you 33,750 Aeroplan points.

Is this a good deal?

It is if you can use the points, although it's only a little better than the 25% bonuses that came through from SPG.

I assume you mean the extra 5000 points that came through for every 20,000 points transferred? Marriott does this too. For every 60,000 points transferred they'll add 15,000. The 35% for transferring to Aeroplan would be on top of that.

I meant the 25% bonuses that Aeroplan would sometimes give in addition to the 25% that SPG gave for a 20,000 points transfer

Did a transfer just now to top up for an award. Will be interesting to see how long this transfer takes. Certainly not expecting it to be as quick as when it was SPG.

I did the transfer on September 13. I received 19,998 + 5,000 bonus today (Sept 18) - but I did not receive the 35% bonus. Do anyone know if this will show up in a separate transaction?

I also received 19,998 instead of 20,000 (+5,000 as expected), which is strange to say the least. Exchange rate ?
Regarding posting of the bonus miles, the T&C indicate:

BONUS MILE CREDITING: Bonus Aeroplan Miles may take up to 4-6 weeks to be credited after the promotional offer end date of September 17, 2018.

So we should not see anything for at least another month.

It took a few days to show up in aeroplan. Still no bonus. I wonder why they skimmed a few points off the top?

You guys are not alone. I also got 39,996 instead of 40,000 miles.

Marriott is transferring at 1:0.3333 instead of the promised 3;1. It’s not an Aeroplan issue.
