Back to back cancellations - mech failure

Hey all,

Asking for a friend.

Would there be entitlement to anything? Flight has been cancelled from TLV to YYZ twice! Delayed while re-routing around restricted airspace, got clearance to leave then after 2.5hr tarmac delay mechanical failure / cancellation. Went back following day for the rebooked flight, another 2.5 hr delay and same mechincal failure with a cancelled flight again! Its now going onto day 3 to get home!

Thanks for any feedback!

Ouch. That's rough. Might become a "fiasco" flight for AC. Let us know if AC reaches out directly to your friend.

Also, why not change carrier complete?

Also, what's wrong with airspace?

Depends when, if, and how the customer actually flies home, assuming the passenger met all their tariff obligations.

AC usually gives a promotional discount code in such circumstances as controllable cancellations, as well as hotel and meal vouchers.

I didn't bother reading it, but there may also be something further. See here: https://www.elal.com/SiteCollectionD...icesLawENG.pdf

Did the customer request a specific reroute to avoid being stuck in TLV for three days?

Is this related to this (mentioned in the Winnipeg incidents thread)?

As per the others above... hotel and meal vouchers.

Also if your friend has travel interruption insurance (from credit card for example), take advantage of it.

according to the Israeli law they have to pay 3080 ILS for delays over 8 hours, so he is entitled twice.
