Question Air Canada prices outrageous at the moment

Hey peeps!

For the past couple years, we always booked our winter vacations in June with Air Canada bc it was cheap. However, I dont see anything right now.
In fact, AC is way more expensive then all the other carriers. i.e Halifax to Antigua-477$ on Round trip with United. 900$ + with AC.

Anyone knows whats going on?

I agree with you....

Revenue management has decided they will sell all those seats at those higher prices....And judging the 2-3 winter trips I take to holiday destinations, I would tend agree with them. The flights in Dec and Jan I took to/from MBJ last year were so over sold they serviced them with a mainline A330 instead of R767

We flew to Aruba 2 years ago and it was very affordable-approx 485$ each RT.
Last Year Barbados for approx the same price.

I messaged AC on twitter to sse if they would pricematch United and this is the answer I was given: "Hello all availability on our official webpage and Air Canada App are valid pricing."...lol which means what?

Would like to support my airline but..... geese. Non sense at the moment.

Wait, what?

The world has changed between 2015 and 2017?

No way! The economy certainly isn't better, load factors certainly aren't higher, and the world actually just stopped spinning entirely!

And since some of our pals South of The Line are talking about raising fares due to the price of oil, AC may actually have a 'reason' to justify their fuel scamsurcharges soon.

Is a connection via the Greater NYC area an option for you? I have to believe that AA/UA must have better deals to the Caribbean.

Why not just book the United flight? US CBP is a pain, but saving $500/person with presumably the same number of connections is worth any US CBP line IMO.

I decided to save $2000+ and fly home from London on air transat for Christmas.

If I left one day later, the price for four people was almost $3,000 difference. I also booked a flight in July today not with AC. Bye bye Altitude status. It was a nice to have, but for that price difference it is not worth.

OP, what is wrong with the UA option you identified?

While AC may have put forth a price offering, this is only a resource valuation signal that is yet to be confirmed via a market exchange, which of course requires an agreement between a willing seller and willing buyer...

As you appear NOT to be a willing buyer, then unclear what is outrageous?

You are free to choose alternative and more desirable service / fare combination are you not?

AC prices are Outrageous. for the same option with another airline, its double the price. Thats all

Yes im free to choose another alternative, etc. I just tought that AC would be at par/similar with other companies. thats all
