As a Diamond member I find the Y market redemptions okay. You can often find market fares for not many more miles than standard *A for NA travel. For these folks, Aeroplan can work. Where they will have trouble is maintaining transfer partners (hotels, car rental companies, Membership Rewards, SPG) and any international travel, and the very obvious J redemption which most savvy collectors want. Nice that they'll give you a year to burn your miles in 2020 though.

So when is the death of Aeroplan to redeem for J flights? June 2020? For flights valid until when? May 2021?
What happens to changes (vol and invol) booked for flights past June 2020, when Aeroplan no longer can access X/I inventory in Star Alliance. Who will be re-issuing these tickets? AC stock?
After that, I guess ~0.75 cpm will become the deal ala Avion and all the other cpm based "reward" programs?

We still don't know if Air Canada will stick with *A reward charts or do what Delta did and toss them making all flights essentially "market fares" (i.e. based on ticket price). I think that's super risky though, they could see tons of their FFs switch over to a new *A FFP and there are lots of them.

I got an AC survey a couple of days ago which asked about what we're looking for in FF programs, and various redemption options , including using points for seat selection, wifi, preferred seating, upgrades, airport parking, airport transportation etc.
