AC changes to North American fares: introduces Comfort, renames Tango to Standard

Effective April 4, 2018, Air Canada will introduce comfort fares, positioned between Flex and Latitude, to its suite of economy fare brands available on North American markets. The introduction of this new fare brand follows the launch of Economy Basic on February 20, 2018, and will allow Air Canada to expand its suite of Fare Brands to offer its customers products that best meet their individual travel needs.

Given the ultra-low cost carrier and economy landscape, Air Canada has recognized the opportunity for additional economy fare options that allow customers to choose their travel experience while still benefitting from world-class Air Canada service at a competitive price point on select routes.

Further information on the new Comfort fare brand and its attributes will be communicated on April 4, 2018.

Does Flex still remain non-flexible?
Does Comfort actually get you comfort, or are you still sitting in AC Y?

Why do airlines keep naming fares and cabin seating using the word "comfort"?

Renaming Tango to Standard is so um, lacking in creativity. @canopus27 I guess AC didn't like your NoGo Tango fare class.
Dolphin2 and wrp96 like this.

I would guess this "Comfort" fare will have the same restrictions as a Flex fare but include Preferred seats.

They have not recycled Hospitality class yet.

Never understood the desire to use music terms to describe air travel, good to see Tango, Jazz, and Song disappear.

Sounds musical to me.

Air Canada's new slogan: "We'll keep adding fare classes until you can't remember the names".

Peeking ahead, here are some other new fare class names that they are considering:
  • Air Canada Super Luxury class (all seats in this class include arm rests)
  • Air Canada Efficiency class (you get to travel standing up)
  • Air Canada Promises class (oh! It will be wonderful!)
  • Air Canada Moneygrabber class (good for those laundering other people's money)
  • Air Canada Yes We Can class (all dream no action)
  • Air Canada Weeeeee! class (like a roller coaster but with turbulence)
  • Air Canada Tangfortlex class (sorry, this one was just a typo)
  • Air Canada Econobus (super cost effective. Includes 15 across seating)
  • Air Canada DontWannaGo (for those long distance flights that your boss makes you take)
