Since Travel Package is exclude again, I expect some will ask this question again - is it better to transfer from SPG to get the bonus over Travel Package without Bonus?
Here is a quick calculation based on starting at 90K SPG - 90,000 SPG to Aeroplan direct with standard 25% bonus (20K SPG get 25K AP) will be 112,500. With this convert promo, another 25% on top, for a total of 140,625 AP. - 90,000 SPG convert to 270K Marriott and order a CAT 1-5 Travel Package will get 120,000 AP + 7-night cert So it is that 7-night cert or 20,625 AP. Also, please note again, the standard SPG 25% bonus is for every 20K SPG transfer, so if you only have 90K SPG, it will not get thew 140,625 AP that is in my calculation above. |
Can someone please remind me what the maximum promo was for hotel points transfer to Aeroplan? Was it 35%?

Aeroplan miles earned from the Marriott Travel Package deals are excluded from earning bonus miles in this promotion :( Please note that some hotel loyalty programs have hotel and flight redemption packages where Aeroplan Miles are issued. It is at the discretion of each Hotel Program if these miles are deemed a conversion of points to miles or simply a bonus earned for the redemption. |

All I see pertaining to this is:
Less explicit than the previous promotion, but still cause for concern.

I know the terms say bonus points may take up to 4-6 weeks after the end of the promo in April to post but I'm trying to remember from last year if it actually took that long. Anyone else?

(4x 20k) + (1x 10k) + (4x 5k) = 110k x 25% = 137.5k AE miles Versus 120k from the vacation package, you are deciding between 17,500 miles vs 7 nights in a cat-5 Marriott. EDIT: Also for science, has anybody redeemed a Marriott hotel package with Aeroplan recently? I'm wondering if they've actually patched it over yet. |
