4h 45m on a DH4! YYT-YYZ
My friend @Will_YYT told me that due to a winter storm in YYT, AC is sending a DH4 YYZ-YYT-YYZ. The inbound is in flight with a block time of 3h47m, and the return is showing 4h45m as AC 8776. This kind of distance/ block time must be really pushing the limits of the Q400. I pity those who were rebooked onto this 'rescue' flight! Is this a new record?

Wow that's brutal didn't know it had that type of range, I'd die. Worse I've done is just under 3 on the Devil's chariott CR2 (YEG-DEN) , but that's wayyyy worse

I wouldn't be surprised if it has to make a tech stop along the way. I used to think the YXE/YQR-YVR DH4 flights are long but this is a whole new level!

Maximum range of the Q400 is 1100 NM so this is definitely pushing the range capabilities. I would be shocked if there was not a fuel stop on the return leg because the wind is not on your side when flying west! AKA longer flight time and greater fuel burn!

Where are you seeing that? No DH4's inbound on FR24 or on the ground as far as I can see. Couple of A320's and E190.
EDIT. No I got it AC8775 inbound. Hope it has better luck than AC2080 which appears to be diverting to Gander.

Flightaware shows AC8775 1356 NM flown versus max range of wikipedia stating fhe Q400 max range of 1100 NM with legal reserve. Jazz's site says max range of 1362 NM.
AC8775 went out with less than ten empty seats according to a friend who was booked.
Wonder what the flight dispatch report shows for endurance time vs actual flight time. Would be nice to know what their filed alternate was, and if they landed with enough fuel to have a missed appproach at YYT, continue to an alternate (which one?) then have 45 additional minutes of flying time.
LaMia Flight 8933 comes to mind https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaMia_Flight_2933

Would LOVE to see the flight dispatch report showing endurance time vs actual flight time. Would also be nice to know what their filed alternate was, and if they landed with enough fuel to have a missed appproach at YYT, continue to their alternate, then have 45 additional minutes of flying time.

. Lucky pax and I mean it. I love that plane. Sure it can be a bit cramped, but it is fun to fly in. I have been through some storms and I found that that the turbulence while scary was not as bad as what I have had TPAC. I don't like flying, and while landing at Billy Bishop on a windy day can be heart stopping, I know that they built this plane tough and rugged. I wonder if Jazz was generous with the in cabin drinks. I know I'd need a couple stiff gins,

he arrived and said it became basically a ferry flight from yyt-yyz. offloading the pax and bags to other flights makes the range a non-issue.

AC8776 YYT-YYZ according to the AC flight tracker departed YYT at 0241 this morning and arrived in YYZ at 0617 for a duration of 5h 6m. Looks like it was non-stop. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/f...c8776#1090d324
