Air Canada announces plans to retire E190 fleet

https://airlinegeeks.com/2018/02/22/...aer-190-fleet/

I have mixed feelings about this, I really like the Y seats in the E190 and I'm not the biggest fan the the J seats in the E175/E190 but I am (for obvious reasons) a big fan of the BCS3 and look forward to the introduction of the BCS3 to the AC fleet.

I'll be sad to see the E190 exit the fleet for some reasons, but I also understand the financial reasons for the decision. I'll miss the E190s just as much as I'll miss the A320 series. :-/

Air Canada has announced that it will retire its twenty-five Embraer 190 aircraft within the next 18 months. The airline made the announcement as it prepares to take delivery of its new Bombardier CS300 aircraft, which is slated to be delivered late 2019.

Woo-hoo! No more riding super rough in turbulence creaky plasticky planes! I can stop driving YOW-YYZ!

*I realize this opinion is not shared by many here.

For those who don't read TFA, but are wondering how the 24 month schedule on CS300 will allow the E190's to be retired in 18, AC will keep around the 319's for a while.

This means that 2020 will be the year of equipment swaps (and AC f'ups) on short haul ML.

Wasn't this mentioned on the conference call last week, meaning it took a while for the aviation press to pick up on it?

What's interesting to me is that replacing E90s with 319s or CS3s means a meaningful upgauge, capacity-wise.

Yes it was!

I'll be sad to see the E90 go. They are one of my favourites.

Likewise..I have always enjoyed the E75/90s

Plus, there always seemed to be a reasonable chance for an OpUp due to weight and balance

remember only the E90s are leaving the fleet. There werenít too many weight and balance upgrades needed on them. Itís the E75s that the opups are mainly given on and they arenít going anywhere. AC seems to be satisfied with SkyRegionalís operating cost.

Too bad, really. The Jungle Jet had the most comfortable Y cabin in the fleet.

I actually enjoyed these birds on the YYC-YYZ run on Sunday afternoons. You could sit in J up front, still get a great hot meal and good service, and sit by yourself.

My favourite narrow body for AC in Y and J. Loved the single seats and 2/2. RIP E90

Good bye and good riddance:

E190 uncomfortable

Hopefully AC will use better seats in the C-Series when they eventually come on line.

I dont think I was ever spooked during a flight, except once on 767 out of YVR where we dropped like a rock for a flat two to three seconds.
The other was E90 landing in YYZ.. during a storm....

I'll miss the E90s. Feels like just yesterday that they joined the fleet! They were nice in Y, except for the single lav....on those 4.5 hour YUL-YEG flights, thats always been a pain, and not something I'll miss!

My spouse and I also enjoyed flying on the E90, either in J or the first few rows of Y.
