I can't find the screenshot above either on the standard eUp listings page. Maybe it was a brief glitch as IT rolled something out after neglected to test it on a development environment. Assuming AC have one of those.

Any experience doing standby earlier on YUL-YTZ flight on a Basic fare? I did not realize that early standby at airport is not permitted on Basic fares until after I purchased...hoping it won't be a problem at the airport but curious of others experience.

Everyone has a development environment. Some organizations are fortunate enough to have isolated production environments.

Basic economy on YVR-TPE

I noticed that AC introduced BE for flights to HKG not that long ago. I now see it on flights to TPE.

I searched a number of the airlines such as SQ, CX, JL, NH. You can look them up. I saw that SQ has something called Economy Lite.
Bottom line is airlines have determined that there is a market for fares that are bare and have little or no mileage earning and seats cost extra. If AC and others are selling them, then their decision to offer them might have been worth it.

I just bought one of the basic economy overseas fares, CDG-YUL-YVR-LAX...the AC site stipulates that ADVANCED seat selection comes at a cost, is that to say that OLCI is a free for all? Outside of like premium seats in the first couple/bulkhead rows presumably? I would normally just have assumed this, but I recently flew BA on an HBO fare and even at OLCI they don't allow free seat selection. So I just wanna know what I got myself into here.

I do have star alliance gold status, so I'm not worried about baggage, I travel pretty light anyway, but I don't have status with AC anymore, and also don't wanna pay for multiple seat selections, thus ruining the deal I got.

Just wondering how I wound up with 1 free bag on an economy basic AC ticket that I just booked. Before booking the ticket I checked the baggage calculator and it shows that Economy Basic and Award Tickets do not get the first bag free. However, after booking the ticket the website (with PNR) and my e-ticket receipt shows my first bag is free. Any clue why?

PS - not that I'll be using the baggage allowance anyway. It's a quick weekend trip so I will be doing carry-on only.

Also note that on the same webpage it says that due to my *G status I get an additional checked bag free. I'm wondering if it took my status into account when it decided to give me 1 free checked bag?

Thanks,
RM

Yes, you should get a bag due to *G.

Yup AC honours Star Gold - unlike LH/LX/OS who don't give *G the free bag allowance on their Basic fares.

Thanks. So now I'm curious if it's 1 checked bag PLUS 1 additional bag for *G. That's what the website implies. The e-ticket seems to be coded with one free bag and at the bottom it says that Aeroplan elite and Star Alliance Gold members get additional baggage. Not confusing in the least...

Again, this is just an exercise. I won't be checking a bag. But it would be nice to know for others who might be in the same situation and want to check as many bags as possible for free.

Normally zero bags are included on Basic fares, so as Star Gold you would be entitled to 0+1 = 1. It is likely that it has already factored your status when it tells you you are entitled to 1 bag.

You have not specified your routing. It is conceivable that the route you booked does offer a free bag on Basic fares. If that is the case, then it should be 1+1 = 2.

I'm currently an AC75K. If I buy a basic economy tatl fare, will I earn any miles for the AC MM program? If so, what is the earn rate?

I have *G as a result of having AC75K. I'm guessing I'll have MLL access and one free checked luggage?
