Lost in the verbiage is the fact that everyone has a personal barometer of how far they are willing to go... Some people never even speed because that's technically illegal. Others would steal from their trusting grandmothers. Most people are somewhere in between.
I also don't believe it to be true that every human is trying to maximize their personal gain and not certainly spending every minute of their lives doing so.
