This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition and 2017 edition
The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. More Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs should be posted elsewhere on FT as should topics better suited to other forums such as Travel Products for questions about luggage or Travel Photography for discussion about cameras.
While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

That’s what I get my trying to keep my Tangerine muffintop under control I guess. All this walking and eating fruit is obviously detrimental to my health.

Definitely hard The worst part? I went out for a *walk to get *apples (and a few other groceries but the main aim was to get out and get apples and not drive).

I live at an intersection of two one-way streets. The lights have three cycles:
1. Southbound traffic has a green light with a green left arrow; pedestrians are allowed to cross north-south ONLY on the west side of the street; eastbound traffic has "no right on red" sign
2. Eastbound traffic has a green light with a green right arrow; pedestrians are allowed to cross east-west ONLY on the north side of the street; southbound traffic has "no left on red" sign
3. Red lights all around, and pedestrians can cross anywhere
No one behaves. Pedestrians cross on the east/south side when they're not supposed to. Cars make left/right turns on red.
But the cyclists... holy crap. In step (3) above, the cyclists seem to feel they can go through because there's a walk sign. Which is great, except pedestrians are crossing all ways. A cyclist running a red at full speed the other day made physical contact with me. No "collision", but our jackets touched.
I've also seen some REALLY obnoxious cars running red lights. Like it turns yellow, then red, then the other direction turns green, then a car runs the red.
It could use a full-time officer between 8-11 and 4-7.

Me with literally every food delivery service.
They're all on my crap-list except Amazon.
At least Postmates offered a credit. Uber Eats has just said "meh, we're cancelling the order, bye" in the past. Needless to say, I was hungry 2.5 hours ago when I ordered. I'm starving now.

As far as I'm concerned, pedestrian making contact with vehicle in crosswalk with light is always vehicle's fault, even if it's foot vs window. I would do exactly the same thing to a bicyclist, likely with worse results.
Just as humans shouldn't be flying planes, they shouldn't be driving. There is no such thing as a "good driver"... Only a "frequent driver that is good so far".
I don't have a license for exactly this reason. So far never been in an accident nor hit as a pedestrian.

I once saw a guy biff his briefcase at a car that didn't yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk with lights flashing. It left a nice little dent. This was on Brunswick Street in Halifax right in front of the old town clock. I thought it was hilarious at the time, though I was very glad that the pedestrian wasn't hurt.
I try to take pedestrian rights very seriously when I drive, especially since my grandfather was killed by being run down at a crosswalk.

I generally stare down drivers as I cross... If I'm on the right, I turn almost backwards to stare at any right turning drivers... Half of which do not signal... If they start moving when it is clearly my turn, video, plus many times a Swift boot to the side of vehicle, once resulting in a smashed side window.

In other news today... TFW your relatives book a flight through some random travel agent that tells them to contact them 72h before flying to confirm booking, and then of course provides a phone number that doesn't work/get answered, and you have to dig through their emails (yes I need the one that says confirmed not the two that say pending) to find an actual airline booking reference for them to check in with. They have again promised to book directly with the airline in the future. Especially as the TA neglected to mention the fact that both flights have changed time - one by more than an hour. Not that booking with the airline always resolves this particular issue.

What does one even say about Tom, now that he is about to cross 20 million lifetime miles?
