lots of good advice above, especially about the less than 2 hour delay means AC is NOT on the hook.

have a good trip

Am I wrong in strongly pointing out that if they are not the same ticket, it is not a connection? If AC gets you to LHR late, IROP policy (and EU law) might get someone a cash payout for being late, but not even a best-effort at rebooking. AC might fess up the due cash, eventually. That doesn't get you rebooked (at any price) that day, and the due cash isn't likely to cover the rebooking, anyway. (absent some flat-tire rule, or the kindness of the foreign TA).

from IRROPS guide:
Customers holding separate tickets:
 Air Canada connecting to Air Canada
 Air Canada connecting to other airlines

you can learn something everyday...I try at least.

ps...but has to be more than two hour delay, and from my professional experience working on LHR capacity planning, usually delays are NOT this long.

+1,000,000 on both concierge only at airport, and that LHR pseudo-sucks for connecting, even if just within T2 to T2.

Thank you all for your help, decided to book BA flight with a 5 Hour 40 Minute Layover with Plus fare so I can same day change for free for up to one hour.
Assuming poop doesn't completely hit the fan, we should be good. AC would literally have to delay by 9 hours for us to miss the last daily flight to BCN

I've missed an onward separate ticketed flight at LHR with exactly what you did, and this was old T3 from AC to old T1 *A terminal for an LH separate ticket flight. I gave myself over 6 hours and still missed the LH flight. Just giving you my experience.

AC IRROPs but I forgot the exact nature. But that was just one time it happened out of a million times that I do such bookings.

The only other time (I severely misconnected to an onward Euro flight was at FRA, but luckily that time everything was booked onto one ticket. It was YYZ FRA ARN return trip on one ticket. AC876 had to return to YYZ when we were about to commence our journey over the pond. When we landed a concierge was waiting for our J cabin to escort and assist. I was in J but was not SE at that time (it was one of those years where I slipped down a notch before regaining SE)

AC has to deliver you to your destination 2+ hours late for them to assume responsibility for a missed connection on another airline/ticket. I was wrong or the policy changed from the pdf I was thinking of in my post above...AC being 2+ hours late is quite different than must book at least a 2hr connection.

AC should be able to handle this if their agents are still working at the airport, if the lounge is open and accessible, etc. Also be prepared for someone involved to try passing the buck and telling you to call Aeroplan and find out the hard way that Aeroplan is closed between midnight and 7am EST.

Jack, another ? is how long are your CDG and PVG stops? Aeroplan lets you do a 24hr as a connection. You can often trick this into 36-40 hours by doing a $75 confirmed same day change or free standby for an earlier flight.

Extreme example because I know these times don't really exist: If there is a 12:15am LHR flight and an 11pm LHR flight, book the later one with as close to 24hr connection as possible. Then SDC or standby for the 1215am flight to add 22hrs to your 24hr connection.

You have access at the airport but not by phone. If you are able to find someone to radio to try go find the concierge. At LHR, my least favorite airport to connect at, it may be tricky.

BA would have no documented responsibility to do so.
Thank you so much for the document, it's very helpful for me, much appreciated.

If you don't mind may I ask where can I find documents like this?

Edit: NVM, a quick search revealed this documents and more. There are also documents on schedule changes, refund, etc

At the check-in counter, you hand them a copy of the BA itinerary with the ticket number and locator, and they stitch it all together, checking your bag through to the final destination.

This way, BA knows that you're on an AC flight and are trying to make a connection. As opposed to being some random passenger who shows up at LHR after missing his flight, demanding to be put on another one for free.

Its not "only" BA, its all carriers that AC interlines with.
