1 credit left on Europe flight pass; worth it to extend for $250?

I haven’t flown in so long and one of my flight passes to Europe is about to expire.

1 credit left. Is it worth it to extend for $250?

Hard to do any travel with a 3 month baby and my gf now lives with me.

It would be strictly leisure since our next “family” trip to Europe won’t be until next September.

I have been in the same situation for nearly all my Europe Latitude passes in the last few years. Always found a reason/excuse for another trip. :-)

Mind you, we don't have a new baby. Or a new gf for that matter. My wife is well used to me by now after all these years. :-)

I think this is the most important question you need to ask yourself.

If you're planning on going to Europe, then extend it for $250

If you're not planning on going to Europe, then cut your losses and save yourself $250 towards diapers.

Don't forget that you'd need to find a way back from Europe... Or was avoiding that the intention all along?

I thought all FPs came in even numbers, presumably the OP somehow managed to end up with an odd nunber. OW trips from Europe to Canada are of course, potentially pricey unless one flies say FI or on points.

$250, essentially for a OW trip to Europe is pretty good, even in Y that’s just about equal to AC YQ for AP tickets. If one isn’t SE. But the return could be expensive so really depends, as Jumper Jack has pointed out, whether or not the Op is planning a Europe trip.

I have FP'd SFO-YYZ, then Aeroplan'd YYZ-Europe-SFO.

It's very easy to end up with one leftover.

And AC likes it when we have unused FP credits.

Well then you just use it for an outbound and buy a new FP for the inbound

Or use Aeroplan. Book one way with points (whichever has I space), and use the FP for the return.

I would bet an unused extension would be more profitable.

I guess it's not at all transferable is it? I've got experience with the flight passes, but only the big corporate ones that allowed like 25-50-100 users. Not sure exactly how the personal ones work.

I'd just buy that extension off you if you were otherwise gonna burn it. But then if I were you I'd probably just find a way to use it. Maybe extend it, then "plan" your next family vacation where you fly 1 way and then use points to fly back, if you plan early enough you can probably get on the same flights as the GF.

There are some 2 person personal FPs, and I think some even allow name changes for a fee. But the 1 person passes do not allow name changes. I almost bought a 2 person SFO-YVR pass a couple times, because all I need is for one friend to need one round-trip and it makes sense. But no one ever wants to commit. Why spend that much money when you could buy Tango for half the price! And then they book at T-5 and pay more than an FP credit would cost
