I'm no lawyer but this seems like a clear violation of US DOT provisions given that the correct cost was exchanged and the seats were confirmed / tickets issued. Obviously I know US doesn't apply here. Anyone have a sense of how Canadian regulators would treat this?

Would US DOT regulations apply if the ticket was originating in the US though?
I had booked two tickets but oddly amused by this and eager to see how it plays out!
wow... this is gonna suck for people who transferred AMEX MR, and now will be stuck with thousands of AE points!
Hope AC does the right thing, and honours all the tickets.

Count me as part of that list . Really don't want to be stuck with this many aeroplan miles...
I called Aeroplan, and said there is nothing they can do to re-instate the ticket. They said the seats were never available to begin with. However, they offered to return the points to Amex and I took them up on that!
