That's a very common occurrence for me on early North American flights.

No one wants to be the first. I don't care.

No one in front of me has alcohol. Most people behind me do.

I thought this was taboo until I once flew HKG - HND on NH at 9am and 75% of the J cabin ordered scotch or beer. And from then on, taboo no more!

Try flying an intra-euro flight on LH at 7am. Pretty much half the plane orders a Warsteiner to wash down their breakfast.

I recall a flight HND to YYZ...everyone woke up for breakfast and they asked the older Japanese lady in front of me did she want orange juice, coffee or tea with breakfast. She said beer.

FA kind of shook for a second, and then said certainly and went to find her a can of beer.

ON an early morning flight on OZ in J.. had to have their Camus XO right after breakfast. they also carry Chivas 18 yr old. beats the Courvoisier vsop on AC any day.

I had the best Bloody Mary on an Emirates flights last month, I doubt AC would make it as good (sigh)
