Now, I think the bigger question I have...is there a way to get credit for that MU flight to a different program, IE: DL or something in the skyteam realm?

I know you can't split a booking with 2 diff star FFPs, but because this has no capacity to credit at all to AC, can you claim missing miles in DL and have them credit it for you? Or will they claim it's already been "credited" to your AC account?

even if it was a codeshare, you would not get anything in Aeroplan.

Yes, you can claim in a SkyTeam programme. The SkyTeam airline FFP can be attached to the MU segments.

Just be happy it was NOT an AC codeshare - if it had been you would have been
downgraded to Y, which is what AC does to all its codeshare Asia continuation flights.

Actually, I have had both. ANA typically would be in Y but CA in J. (once CA had no room in J and offered me cash at the counter).

So I can tried crediting my Sky Miles account.
Delta tells me that I can't since it was an Air Canada ticket.

Since your original booking was on Air Canada and it is not a SkyMiles
partner, we aren't able to post the mileage credit you requested.

Definitely not true. You should have had MU enter your Sky Miles number
before flying, but even so Delta should give you retro credit. You flew on a
Sky Team flight, you are entitled to the mileage regardless of who issued the ticket.

Any suggestions for following up?
I asked them why it was denied and that was the response from their Online Customer Support Desk. (I must say, I am impressed with the response time from their contact form. I am used to the AC week or so response time. Delta took about 3 hours!)

Was NRT-XIY ticketed as MU, or as an AC codeshare?
If MU, just upload the ticket and boarding pass on Delta's website.

If an AC codeshare, do the same but add a note stating the AC flight number was
actually flight MU XXX.

It was ticketed as MU (no AC flight number, just MU 522).
The ticket is 014 of course so Delta said Air Canada tickets are not eligible for accumulation.

You may also want to consult the DL FT as they would have more experience crediting things to SkyMiles.
