YYC-NRT direct on AC ...still on B763?
 

KVS Tool and Matrix reporting B763 for plane used for YYC-NRT direct. Some youtube videos are showing B789.

Is it only on certain days that B763 are used? :confused:

When AC starts the YUL-NRT, the YYZ-NRT non-stop will no longer exist. It will be YYZ-YYC-NRT on a 763

For many years, the YYC-NRT route has been served the B763.

Last year, during peak travel season, starting sometime spring/summer and ending Oct 29, 2016, YYC-NRT was served by a B788.

It has been back to a B763 since.

As stated by 24L above, once YUL-NRT starts, YYZ-NRT will be via YYC and as in the past, be with a 763. One difference here is that it appears the YYZ-YYC-YYZ legs may no longer be always designated AC9/10 as they had been in the past.

It should also be noted that on AC.com, despite the AC aircraft changes announced, AC9 (July 18) and AC10 (Aug 08) are still showing 763 from/to YYZ!

Aside from the above - just in case the question arises - ONLY YUL and YVR will have 788/789 service to TYO. Both YYZ and YYC are relegated to the now-aging 777s and even more aged 763s!

AC009 YYC-NRT on Friday 20OCT was served by a 763.

Been looking for an AC flight to Tokyo for Dec or Jan. They're showing 763 for YYC-NRT.

Flew this last summer. Not having individual air vent on the Rouge 763 during summer made the early part of the flight slightly uncomfortably warm.

I did YYC-YVR-NRT recently. Guess I'll choose that route again because of the plane used for YVR-NRT. Tnx everyone

Are you actually planning to fly from YYC to NRT and what class?
If you're going to be in Y then the non-stop 763 might be your best choice.
If on the other hand you are going in PY or J then connecting to YVR and flying the 789 to NRT might be a better choice. Regardless to minimise heat effect try to sit on the starboard side to TYO and port side to Canada.

Somehow they switch 767 and 788 back and forth since 2016, and perhaps they will continue to do so until AC receives all its 787 aircrafts by 2019. I fly twice a year from YYC to NRT, and they priced J-cabin the same for YYC-NRT and YYC-YVR-NRT, and I prefer 787 aircrafts. So when AC switches to 767, I route YVR.

YYC-NRT is an orphan route: no AC competition and also due to the downtown in the oil industry, there are fewer YYC flyers going out via NRT. I suspect these are the reasons Air Canada can continue to snub this route.

This is why I recommended to the OP that via YVR is better if travelling in PY or J.

Yes, and AC is planning to snub YYZ as well as YYC by restoring the 763 service to NRT via YYC and "giving" the 788 NRT service to YUL!

Well, from a YYZ YYC NRT perspective, I agree that it makes YVR more attractive.

But from a strictly YYZ NRT (when it exists/existed) or YYZ HND perspective, ex-YYZ definitely wins.

AC 001 002 (NRT days) 005 006 always beats 003 004 009 010.

Especially the YVR TYO... for these routes you don't get the a la carte portion of the menu like you do to/from YYZ.

Can't be/Didn't happen. No YYC-NRT on Rouge has ever operated.

I agree with this, but if the price is right I'd take 301 3 4 306 for the miles.
