AC reaches 10-year deal with pilots. 2017 Update: deal amended

Not much details but just saw this published on ctvnews.ca: http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/air-c...ract-1.2040892

Air Canada (TSX:AC.B) says it has reached a tentative agreement with the union representing its pilots for a new 10-year contract.

Details were not released, pending ratification by the union and approval by the airline's board of directors.

The new agreement covering approximately 3,000 pilots includes certain openers and benchmarks over the 10 year period.

Air Canada approaches pilots for early discussions leading to longer contract

The tentative deal comes well ahead of the 2016 expiration of the current contract with the Air Canada Pilots Association.

Let us wait and see if the members ratify the agreement.

Interesting. I wonder if the new agreement addresses fleet size limits for Rogue?

10 years is a long time for a labour agreement.
It will be interesting to learn what both parties have agreed to.....a lot of events can happen in a ten year span.

From another forum:

At the bottom - Rouge remains capped at 50 aircraft.

LOL. "We are counting down the days until we bring in cheaper foreign trained replacements" is how I read it.

.......................
""This new 10-year agreement with the Air Canada Pilots Association is an important development which, if ratified, will allow us to further accelerate the implementation of our business strategy and support long-term profitable growth for the benefit of Air Canada and our pilots," said..."

Interesting that Pilots will have to brown bag it come 2016 on domestic flights.

Huge news considering word of the longer deal only came out weeks ago in this thread.

I seem to recall past tentative deals not being ratified however so this is not a done deal quite yet.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (BlackBerry; U; BlackBerry 9780; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.8+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0.0.666 Mobile Safari/534.8+)

It seems like a remarkably generous package especially given the term of the proposal.

One wonders if AC will regret it in the future. But probably more important in the short term is whether the other unions will use this as a reference/starting point in their negotiations.

The labour progress at AC looks especially impressive against the current backdrop of unrest at AF and LH.

But, If the progress is on the back of an offer incommensurate with market realities, AC will find themselves behind the 8-ball needing to scoop passengers from lower-cost competitors in order to fill their ballooning fleet. That's a tough, long road.

10 years is a long time frame for a contract.
I hope the economy does not head south and air travel slows down.

A question: anyone know of another 10 year contract ?

We had been told that the "J cabin" on rouge is what it is because of current agreement with pilots.

Not reading anything in here that suggests that's been sorted...
