I find it more interesting that YVR-SEL showed up twice. And NRT is for Narita while HND is for Tokyo, yet BJS/SEL are used.

I see so much proof reading behind this ad.

3 cities with destination YYZ but described as "Toronto Pearson"

All other YYZ destinations are listed as "Toronto". If YTZ would have been listed, then I'd understand identifying both.

(so much fun, so little time...)

Dang----- Booked YVR-TPE in PE three days ago. Oh well. I could cancel and rebook for $200, probably not worth it?

Totally depends on how you use your points. If you use your points for long haul F bookings then it definitely worth the $200.

OK! YVR-TPE-YVR is 11,943 miles +25% (for PE)=14928 x3 =44,786 miles.

So an extra 32,843 for $200, and yes I use them only for redemptions in Business or First. I wonder if I have my numbers correct?

These are some pretty aggressive bonus miles IMO.

Wonder if AE has a reason for boosting our AE points ahead of the breakup?

I'm guessing that one of those was supposed to be YVR-NRT, since they claim that this offer applies to all flights to Asia but that route is conspicuously absent from the list

No.

The bonus mile does not apply to COS bonus.

It's 3 times bonus miles, not miles x3. So expect x4.25 AP miles for PY.

But let's just use your number since it's not too far off. 30K miles are 1/5 of TPAC J redemption. $200 is 1/15 to 1/30 of a TPAC J ticket.

Likewise, I'm YYZ-Dubai in February, with paid (discounted) J.

Should I cancel and rebook? $600 change fee per ticket (MrsITAG goes too)

1/30 is hugely optimistic. Even 1/15, which rtoughly corresponds to a P fare is already optimistic. Because (1) you are more unlukely to find a reward than being able to buy a P fare and (2) the reward is more restricted in a variety of ways. Also, you should account for the miles that you would accrue on a paid ticket.

Does YYZ-PVG, then PEK - YYZ qualified?

Well, it completely depends on how you book. For trips planned in advance, I usually look for P fares. I usually use AP miles for "discretionary" trips when I find space and I happen to be free.

As for mileage accrual on paid ticket, that's a good point. I haven't really accounted for opportunity costs before, but that sure is gonna make things more complicated. Perhaps we should also account for the value of the AQM as it may lead to a higher status.

Also it's kind of interesting that when calculating the value of the miles you need to consider the value of the miles. It's a recurrence equation. I can solve it once I get a piece of paper.
