Weird Radar Tracks for AC1 and AC5 today
Both flights took-off from YYZ nearly on-time and went almost due north along the east side of Hudson Bay. There the AC5 track ends perhaps due to lack of radar coverage and ETA still appears to be on-time as per AC.
However, the AC1 track seems to zip back down from the NE fringe of Hudson Bay to Yorkton SK and then turned MW and is now (2100 EDT) passing north of YEG and south of Slave Lake with a positive radar track.
Anyone know what's going on? According to Flight Radar 24 arrival time for AC1 in NRT at 1937 is about 3 hrs late.
I wonder what this does to the fuel range?

Fuel is based on endurance, not range.
Routing most likely to avoid head winds.
Here's a map of the current jetstreams.

Thanks Tracon!
With those jetstreams the high route (which my wife loves) is very logical. Looks like AC1 and AC5 won't hit the jetstream till just north of Hokkaido and by then it will a cross instead of headwind.
I guess as songsc said FR24 has a glitch and they seem to be trying to generate probable rather than actual course!
As to fuel burn, if AC1 really had been only just north of YEG after 7+ hours it really would have been a stretch!

Of course, if I tell you to go to website and price a flight in J for 1 person and the total is about $6,900 but for two; same flights, class and dates, it is about $6,100 total you'd be skeptial and call me crazy - and say the old rule "if it's too good to be true" etc. applies.
