How did you book? I've been finding it impossible to book or change via the app or online for several days. Have they got it working again, or did you call in?

This is really interesting. My FP also gives me vegetarian hindu meals by default, I've called in 3x to have it changed, I've been told it's a option I selected at purchase and it's unchangeable.
I've also called to remove the request for some flights. But when I forget I haven't been offered a SPML. |
About the "itinerary changes lock the reservation online" problem, I learned something today.
I'm traveling with someone on another reservation (made by OTA vs mine booked directly with AC). There was an equipment and a schedule change for our flights but only mine got "locked". Apparently it's better to use an OTA with this mess of a system  With the equipment change we got separated. I changed my companion's seat but can't change mine. |
Yesterday I booked SFO-YYZ-YHZ-YYZ-SFO for the do.
Then I split off the calf and cancelled him (points already refunded) because he can't make it. This morning I woke up to a flurry of emails. A few schedule changes, and a few seat changes for the calf. Seat change emails are good to see in principle but I'm curious why they came for a cancelled booking. In my case, 3 of the 4 segments are now TK. The 789s both changed to a 333. And the YHZ-SFO was moved by 5 minutes. Yay me. Another call just so I can select seats again. |
Just one data point --
Ms SWMBO Stanbury (E50) received a flight change notification, which gave her just over an hour in YYZ between YWG-YYZ and YYZ-CDG (albeit respecting MCT). Called in at 12:30 pm (I did warn her!). Call answered at 12:56 -- which is better than a lot of what has been reported. Flight switched to via YUL (2 hrs 25 mins cnx) with no push back of any sort from agent. Total call 8 mins. Agent made a small mistake in one of her seats -- I was able to change to what she wanted on-line with no issue. I don't think this means we are in lottery ticket purchasing territory, and 26 mins hold time, even for a humble 50K "Elite," is not great -- but it sure could have been worse. |
Tons of seat and schedule changes..
One Aeroplan Aruba trip generated 5 change emails per person, plus 3 seat change emails per peron for a total of 24 emails and Android modified booking popups. They modified a Saturday 23:30 LAS-YYZ-AUA from a 2 hour layover in YYZ to now depart Vegas Friday 23:30, with 26 hours in Toronto. I assume they want us to live in YYZ airport for that day+2 hours, which is ironically more time than we will be in Aruba. Perhaps they will pay hotel, change to UA, or let us keep modify the trip keeping our now *three* >24hr stopovers on this mini RTW. |

I booked a ticket 36 hours ago. It had a schedule change. 3 of 4 segments TK. I called yesterday, and got them back to HK.
It just had another change. I have a TK again. So I need to call if I want to do anything... sigh |

So I noticed his PNR still existed, even though the ticket coupon statuses were all "refunded". It showed up in my list of bookings. And he was holding seat assignments (and as it turns out, space). I had received the miles back already. I called again, she said it was weird, double checked I'd actually been refunded, and cancelled the PNR. Now it's off my list, and the seats have opened up. |

Maybe I should rethink that lottery ticket purchase. Hey -- better idea -- maybe I should go into business calling in to request changes for other FT members haha |

Quick question -- can one check-in with a reservation that is TK or does it have to be HK-d first?
My guess would be that you cannot check in online but that an agent can at the airport. Which means that if you have a seat assigned and you are OK with the change you don't really need to worry. |
Called AP six times over the week-end, each call timed out after 2:15. No status.
They'd cancelled some of my flights, which is why I called, but yesterday they reappeared. They'd even moved one of my flights to give me a long layover in Hanoi, which they'd removed with a previous alteration. Interesting times. And thanks for the info re calling in to unlock the flights. |
