New VIP lounge YYZ int'l: Air Canada Signature Suite

So I was in a quest for cookies, for which I had to go to the Plaza Premium lounge as the MLL is out of them... Next to the new Plaza Premium there's an AC roundel, a posted application for a liquor license, as well as a double glass door, taped up with paper.

Asked in the MLL what it is, and was told it'll be a "new VIP lounge". I asked if this was for Super Elites, and the dragon replied affirmatively, "yes, Super Elites and VIP members".

Anybody heard of this? The entrance looks quite far along and the liquor license indicates an opening may be on the horizon...

There was speculation/discussion about this type of lounge back when then were building the "Big Black Box".

Will there be extra bowls of pickles in the new lounge?

Just spoke to one of the managers at YYZ domestic MLL and the new AC Intl VIP lounge will be opening at the end of the year. They will also begin upgrades to the domestic MLL once VIP is complete. Design is completely different with food stations; nothing like the current lounges.

OK but VIP meaning VIP for VIPs or VIPs and SE? Or some other criteria? :p

Hopefully it includes business class passengers

I was thinking it'd be a temporary lounge while they (potentially) renovate the main lounge... That was my first thought.

I heard it will be similar to Polaris.

Meaning "no longer accessible to AC passengers"?

Departing in paid J on AC metal, longhaul mainline Tpac/Tatl flights.

That's basically what the investor day brochure eluded to. Also included the architect's renditions of the project on one of the small photos.

definitely won't be for SE 100k shorthaul trips...

Unlike the ORD Polaris lounge, you won't even have physical access to this unless you're flying internationally (and US does not count).

So aside from the Caribbean/Mexico, if you're there, you are definitely long haul.

Only the most convincing DYKWIAs will be allowed in. It will have a storage room for comfort animals except for crocodiles. Why not crocs? Well, geez, they'll clearly eat all the other comfort animals. Do you want to hear all that wailing and gnashing of teeth while you sup on pheasant as a VIP?

So there will be a moat for the crocs, with unentitles seekers of admission thrown in and told to swim?

Actually the wailing and gnashing of teeth might be worth it in order to get a flight that's free of fake "comfort" beasts.

Just as long as the crocs aren't wearing socks; or worse, those in the moat are wearing crocs with socks... which in such a case, the wailing and gnashing of teeth sounds are quite acceptable.
