Air Canada: Cake…..on a Plane

I wasn’t sure which thread title to choose

Air Canada. Cake…on a Plane
or
Air Canada - Let Them Eat Cake

I picked one, but if the mods or the collective want a different one, perhaps it can be changed.

----

FWP alert: this is not a thread about eUps or 5% promo codes or cancelled flights or IDBs, VDBs, GAs, FAs, rouge or any of the other more serious things that bring FTers and newcomers to AC FT.

We’ve had discussions on AC FT about the food, desserts, snacks and drinks that Air Canada serves on its flights. There have been threads about Special Meals not being boarded and some not being edible. There have been comments about meals choice and the priority order in J. There is always the debate about the drinks served onboard - in all cabins. Then there’s BoB. Of course we have the Kit Kat thread, which is less about meals and more about whether AC is boarding enough snacks for J cabin (and if some J pax are sharing with family in Y or if Y pax are wandering up and helping themselves (Self-upgrading snacks?). And of course, we’ve debated pickles because Air Canada flooded the MLLs with them. Thankfully, that mistake was corrected and now some MLLs have Haagen Dazs. ^

I read the post by @painintheuk in the "Out of food in business class”, where he mentions not having seen cakes on AC TPAC flights. Some of us have had these cakes, or seen them.

So I started this thread because I thought it would interest some readers to see how Air Canada’s desserts on International flights have evolved in recent years. I don’t have many food photos from way back, but still you’ll see some trends in the photos and posts that follow.

Feel free to add your cake/dessert photos.

My wife and I recently flew biz class on AC, a short flight from Calgary to Toronto, not something we normally would do, but the price difference between coach and biz was only $100, so figured "why not"? A first time experience for her, so that was fun. Anyways...

When we were served our meal, it came with a piece of cheesecake. When the FA put my tray down, the dessert was kind of broken in half. He apologized profusely, removed it right away, and then at some point returned with another piece.

I've gotta be honest, I would have happily just eaten the piece that came, understandingly that things can happen in transport. However, having read some of the expectations that you all have regarding service levels in the front cabin, I get his reaction!!

According to the RCHHMP only MMs can have MMuffintops.

Are you a MM? If not, then how dare you claim MMuffintop status!

But yeah, full on cake is served on many international flights. One just has to fly enough to see them... or not fall asleep after the entree.

I apologize
My SE status is earned the painful way with mostly NA fares where I have attempted to learn the alphabets again aka AC fare codes. JCP is better than EN is better than YMV and everything else sucks. I am sometimes in Tango and more often in flex and sometimes in PE or J. So I plod my way to MM.
However in the near future I am in J TPAC and TATL and hope to sample such delicacies. I will avoid the lounge food so I can partake in-flight. Since open flames are forbidden I suspect I will not see a freshly prepared Banana Fosters on my AC flights in J. And its 5pm now.

AC cake-porn I'm just the photographer.

@canopus27 Thanks, fun threads can be therapeutic and offer calm in a sea of frustrating flying experiences. I think.
