Smile How to integrate miles?

Hello all,

I have being traveling a lot in the past year and have racked up some miles but sadly they are all over the place. Luckily few of them are all under star alliance :
Lufthansa
Air Canada
Singapore airlines
Sas
Qatar airways
Except for Qatar which is one world rest are all start alliance if I'm correct. I'll be flying to the US and wonder if I can use my miles in Singapore airlines and Lufthansa to upgrade my air Canada economy tickets?
I have no clue and read that I don't have to transfer points I can just use the member info to upgrade since they all fall under star alliance. Can someone help me how to do this or point me in the right direction??

Thanks in advance
Carl

You could use miles from other *A award programs to upgrade AC flights, but you will need to have a pretty expensive economy ticket to make that work. What fare classes are your flights in?

...and you would need enough from ONE other program for each upgrade.... the miles can't be added together then used...

Cross airline upgrades are uncommon. If cross airline upgrades are offered they tend to require a very expensive base fare and have t&c’s. Star Alliance has a limited cross alliance upgrade system, but requires an expensive base fare booking class, so useless for most people.

The miles you have will probably expire unless you can use them. As post above, best to concentrate on Star & one Oneworld airline ffp.
You can earn ff miles to your ffp on eligible flights on your ffp airline partners. Example flying SQ you can get Aeroplan ff miles.
Generally you cannot combine or move ff miles from one freq flyer program to another.

Having multiple ffp’s with low balances is never a good idea. You may never get enough ff miles/points to be of use before they expire. FFP’s are for the medium to long term. However at times it makes sense to have a ff membership with an airline in another alliance. (e.g. Oneworld & Star)
Be mindful of expiry http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...-t-expire.html
