IHG seems excluded from the promo. Bummer, I had some stray points to convert.

Can we convert Aeroplan miles into something else though?

Surely in the current context that would be more useful, no?

Would the miles from the Marriott hotel + air package be eligible?

Why would anyone put points into Aeroplan in the case of a likely possible bankruptcy, a rush to the exits, and increased demand for seats, all of which might drive further unethical actions by AE? Just curious.

maybe that is why Aeroplan up it to 35% and no longer in stages. The way I read it is that even if you convert 1000 Aeroplan, you will get 1350.

Ah. The old 'sell it at a loss, make it up in volume' strategy.

If anyone has a specific flight / itinerary in mind that is available and to be used in the near future (i.e. within the next 3 months) and Aeroplan award chart offers good value, then by all means take advantage of this deal. If you just want to transfer speculatively, then don't.

I haven't done the math on this, but does it make sense to go from SPG to Aeroplan or Marriott to Aeroplan since you can transfer between SPG and Marriott and for every 20,000 SPG points to Aeroplan there's a 5,000 bonus?

Assuming Marriott packages does count (as per in the past) 90K SPG become 162K Aeroplan + 7-night cert

Regular will be 90K x 1.25 (factor in the normal 5K bonus per every 20K) x 1.35 = 151.875K Aeroplan.

Yes. The Marriott packages count and its a great deal if you are planning on using the miles for something. 90,000 starwood to ~162000 aeroplan.

I have many hotel points, but not going to convert. We're trying to redeem the aeropeso points, not to add to the losing proposition.

Yep, agree made a transfer using the Marriott package last time and burned the points immediately, will probably do another one this go around.

Is the pending June 2020 dissolvement of Aeroplan such a deterrent? I'm thinking of doing the Marriott hotel package for 162k, with a 75k NA->Asia1 redemption in mind. To me, the stopover policy is really nice and I'd most likely use up the remainder on 25k domestics or 75k Asia1 flights with stopovers. Bad idea?
