To avert a flock (coven?) of lawyers your immediate message for any company needs to be:
1. We realize that an event has occurred involving our company;
2. It is being investigated by XXX and by our senior staff;
3. Any Lessons Learned will be communicated to the appropriate members of our staff and any recommendations for improvements will be implemented as soon as practicable; and
4. We will keep you updated on developments.

Crisis Control Communications can start early if the above points are sent out instead of taking a "nothing to see here, move along folks" approach.

OK - amateur question : if the taxiway is parallel to the runway, arent there special coloured lights or some other identifier that make it obvious ?

This sums up my thoughts on this matter well.

http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/5...ml#post9827768

"Humans are humans ... so long as they are involved incidences like these will occur. It is in our nature, pilots aren't a special breed who were born without flaw.

And they were the first to be aware of their error from what the tape suggests. They were alert when it counted and therefore were able to avert a disaster ... what is the issue?"

Unless you have the LiveATC app on your phone like I do.

Please no lectures about airplane mode.

Isn't the thread title just a bit too melodramatic?

This is not the cbc, is it?

Isn't one of the purposes (beyond the redundancy should one leave this mortal coil or go crazy) of two pilots being that one can point out what seems puzzling if the other misses it?

Such as "say look our runway looks awfully congested".

Glad to see this thread is now a separate thread and not included in the Winnipeg thread.

This is going to hurt the Air Canada brand.

The story has made international headline news.

As long as they are cheaper, or even better, perceived to be cheaper, won't hurt one bit.

Just look at how TK is popular around here.

Avherald has added estimated distances from aircraft on the taxiway (no source cited).

It is estimated that AC-759 overflew the first two aircraft by 100 feet, the third by about 200 feet and the last by 300 feet. The closest lateral proximity between AC-759 and one of the aircraft on taxiway C was 29 feet. The NTSB is investigating the occurrence.

It's what the San Jose Mercury News published in their newspaper. I don't edit the headlines when I post news articles.
