Skytrax awards are advertising and completely meaningless.

For me, Delta is the best among the main North American carriers. They have a customer-oriented approach and have several times waived cancellation and change fees as a courtesy for me as non-status customer. They have also been relatively generous with regards to compensation when I wrote to them to voice a concern.

The J class ratings are rubbish. Etihad, Lufthansa, Turkish, Swiss, among others, should not be in there. Any airline that has 3 seats in the middle section, and 2 on the side in J is a non-starter. You step over other people to get out. How is that a premium experience ? AC J seats are far better than any of those.

The 2018 Skytrax ratings are out:
4-star rating confirmed, Air Canada gets thumbs up from Skytrax - Travelweek
Its official Air Canada is North Americas only four-star, full-service international carrier.
The rating was affirmed by Skytrax, the international air transport rating organization, and is based on the assessment of more than 1,000 aspects of the Air Canadas airport and onboard products and services.

Perhaps they don't award 0* or Rouge hasn't paid their ranking fee like AC has.

Actually AC went down in Skytrax poll from 29th last year to 30th this year.
And seriously to rank 30th is nothing to herald by any stretch of the imagination.
curious whether AC cut a big enough cheque this year or did someone else pay more for 29th place???

So who today received the email from Air Canada with the SkyTrax poll. For any of you who understand statistics, immense problem with self-select bias, and of course an entire industry exists in China where corporations pay to fill in these polls to generate the results they want.
would be interesting if someone understands the rules of the Toronto Stock exchange, that should AC be found to paying for rigged results, could this lead to sanctions or even a class action suit against AC if this were affect their stock value?

More importantly it is pretty obvious that almost nobody is properly qualified to respond. How many people fly many airlines frequently enough to form an opinion with sufficient evidence to be valid (ie not I flew airline A once and they sucked because blah blah blah) but not so frequently as to have top tier status on only one of the airlines (not me I am SE but dont fly DL and UA and BR 20 times a year) which would inevitably skew their perceptions too and hopefully significantly. If I, as an SE, dont have a lot better experience than a FOTSG something isnt kosher in Denmark. Or how many people achieve top tier across many airlines? If you arent a member of one of those two groups you cant really submit a valid response. So it is total bs.
