For front cabin access, I remember on some airlines (ANA for example) there is a sign on the curtain saying "business class passengers only". Perhaps AC should get those signs as well.

From a sympathy point of view, I don't mind Y passengers coming to the front if they are in need. However, from a logical point of view, it's better to say no to avoid articles like this.

If you call that a premium cabin on the single aisle aircraft!

I pony up my own money if I fly in a premium cabin. In fact, in any cabin it is my own money since I don't travel on business at all.

Don't golf either.

Just took a look...and I sorted by "Most Liked". Appears the CBC commenters are giving grandma more thumbs down than we are here.

Agreed.

It seems Air Canada needs to enforce the rules, 100% of the time, and have signs to remind people to use the facilities that they are entitled to based on their class of service.

I've wandered to the back of the plane a few times to use the loo while having a ticket in business class and the look of those seated in the economy class cabin scared me enough to make sure I didn't do that again.

It's a two way street. Maybe AC should forgo curtains and have an electric fence!!

You are amongst a small minority in this forum in both regards!

Osmond says the agent who helped her book the flight put the couple in seats close to business class at the front of the airplane so that her granddaughter, who's almost three years old, would have quick access to a washroom.
I call shenanigans on that claim. What's the most likely response to the statement "I'm traveling with a two-year-old, so I need to be close to the bathroom"?

a) "Of course! Even though you're in economy, I'll put you in the front of the plane so you can use the business class toilet at your leisure."

or

b) "Certainly. There are two bathrooms in the back of economy and I'll put you back there."

Wow after missing this all day, I figured I'd respond and get flamed, but enough people agree with me

Exactly.

There was discretion. But this is literally the boy who cried wolf. After 3 trips in 2 hours to the J lav, why the heck would I believe "it's an emergency".

Agreed.

No, I pay for the advertised dedicated lav. I've absolutely told SDs when a kid keeps coming up that it's bothering me. And it's resulted in that kid and their parents getting talked to.

Because this was the third attempt. If the article had been "she had to pee for the first time, and there was a cart blocking the aisle, and the FA wouldn't let her go up front", I suspect you'd have VERY different reactions here.

The mother said "closest". Maybe Granny never flew before to understand that there are lavs for each class of service or maybe she did not want to escort her to the econ lavs??

Safe Travels..
It's a bathroom in a tube at 35,000 feet. They aren't 'private' bathrooms outside of that being the rule. If you are truly bothered by a toddler that might be potty training using the bathroom that is in the front maybe consider private.

I get it. It's supposed to be a special bathroom but the last row of the class is inches away from the first row of the lowly main cabin. However on any airline I have NEVER seen this 100% enforced.

What about it actually 'bothers' you? Does it bother you if you are in row 1 and someone with bladder control in row 3 has to go multiple times in a flight? What if I am with my 3yr old in row 3 and she needs to pee a lot? Does that bother you?

It wasn't 100% enforced, hence the first two visits.

These over entitled caregivers get angry when the world does not adjust to their demands. No matter how reasonable an alternate course of action (e.g. ask the back end FAs to move their cart) they want the world to bend to their every demand.
Excellent post. Especially as it is from the perspective of a parent who has flown with a toddler, no less. I suspect you are very close to the truth in every aspect of your post.
