LX first class and Cathay first class using AP miles?

1 Attachment(s)
Was definitely a surprise when it showed up on my AP (about 3 weeks ago) as AP claims LX first class is not bookable via AP. :-)

Does anyone know whether this is a system error or LX first class will be bookable through AP? It seems like AP doesn't show up any LX award availability now...

Wondering whether anyone else snapped some LX first class seats as well couple weeks ago?

Also does anyone know when Cathay will be bookable using AP miles?

Cathay will be available when they join Star Alliance... likely not any time soon :D

Swiss rarely releases seats except close to departure if at all in F anymore so if this shows up you should try to book it ASAP!

Are you aware of the AC-CX partnership? FF redemptions aren't available yet, but they're supposed to be coming.

LX published policy is no partner awards in first at all, that's why the AP agent said they don't offer it. It's LH that offers F close in.

It seems like there's some sort of availability once a year or so, it's always called a system error. I would not be surprised if it was a system error, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it was just some unpublished intentional availability. Maybe it shuts up the enthusiasts (us) by having some random availability instead of none whatsoever.

Oddly enough, AC seems to be noting Cathay as part of Star Alliance on their own website.

Did OP book this or was it a schedule change that put you into F?

Another win for the AC people who manage the website!
