What I learned after 5,000 posts on the Air Canada FT Forum

Well, it's post 5,000... so here is a summary of things I have learned after 5,000 posts on the Air Canada FT forum.

- Latitude Flight Passes in North America are the best deal, with free upgrade to J at T-48

- I'm not the only person who can't use Air Canada's new website to book flights, because it's not functional

- You can get your SE status revoked if AC thinks you entered the lounge without the intent to fly

- There really are good people here on FT, I've made a dozen new friends who I stay in touch with frequently!

- Air Canada staff read FT - in large numbers. The number of SD's and FA's who have come up to me during flight and started off with "So I read on Flyertalk that you said...." would amaze you

- There's a disproportionate number of pickle haters on AC FT vs society

- My ability to upgrade is more important than your ability to upgrade

- If you don't pay for J you are cheaping the cabin

- What J is

- What Y is

- Y would you ever fly Y when you understand the easiest path to fly J

- AC IT's motto is "as long as it sort of works, it's good enough for us"

- It's impossible to spend money with a company when you cannot interact with them

- That a large number of people on this board work in Tech

- That while I do give Tcook a hard time (I love you bud), this board is more relaxed and you are allowed to speak your mind more than other FT boards.

- You will get questioned on EVERYTHING even if you have provided valid leaks in the past, so be prepared to provide more proof for your statements than you would need in court

- AC will always be compared to UA for everything and anything

- UA is better than AC

- AC is better than UA

- SAP was a truly noble and great creature

- There are no 747's at YVR

- There is no incentive to fly AC over 100,000 AQM per year

- What those little letters mean in the fares and how they can give you the opportunity to upgrade

- Upgrading is a farce, and you should just buy J or lat NA passes

- There are lots of 747's at YVR

- People will wear a Zone 1 t-shirt

- A business traveler will wear a suit, a frequent flyer will wear whatever the heck they want which is often so dressed down you will second look that they walked into the J cabin

- Air Canada express doesn't own aircanada.express

- BBM changed my life

- AC 3MM's will sit behind me in J and put their feet without shoes on my arm rest

- GMT is apparently the time everything in AC runs on

- AC FT can't identify a real celebrity if one showed up on a plane next to them

- "Enhancement to the program" means they are making it better for AC and worse for you

- ITA Matrix!

- Expert Flyer

- What the heck is R space and why it matters (until you realize that the R games are really as bad as it sounds and just start buying J)

- There are other people in this world who know airport codes and flight numbers by heart and I'm not that weird

- All AC Incidents happen near YWG

- I'm really that weird

- Aeroplan has more downtime than Trump spends in mar-a-lago

- CBC will report on ANYTHING that is AC and it's always AC's fault, even when it's not

- "upgrade promotion" is short hand for "we screwed up on the new eup program so we will run a promotion for 2 years until domestic PY is on most widebodies and then remove the promotion and see what happens"

- All thread titles that include "AC" and "UA" will eventually be locked

- Air Canada can sell a J flight pass to thousands of people and then cancel it and refund it without and repercussions

- 77HD is a term that even the staff use and they hate the plane more than us

- AC staff are told in training that the average SE spends $120,000 per year on flights (I think this is one trainer)

- I'm not weird for wanting to do a RTW

- I'm still weird

- What those ML* codes actually mean

- Most FF's have no idea what they get or don't get with or without status but when something disappears they get really mad

- A DO is a real thing with real people

- The real meaning of IKK and why it actually no longer makes sense to call it IKK but we still do anyway

- AC screwed up the rollout of rouge with rouging routes where pax had already bought tickets

- AC knows they screwed up the concept of rouge and change the J seats to be the same as NA J seats

- The FP routing system is different than .com routing system

- There are things that should not be discussed on FT because they will be eliminated

- Aeroplan hates everyone

- AC will probably drop Aeroplan

- errorplan was a truly noble and great cause

- A guy calls himself nomad but only flies once a year to grandma

Love you all,

Sean Peever

This post is epic. Not only will it end up as a classic, but it should remain on page ONE FOREVER!

Well done, sir.

I have come from afar, to render praise unto Caesar.

Sean remains one of the best things ever to happen to Flyertalk.

While I've lurked for many years, I do find it fascinating to correlate one's join date and # of posts contributed.

Thanks Sean for your contributions to this board. I'm not as courageous as you to put my full name on an anonymous board but I can only imagine how Air Canada flight attendants would treat you upon recognizing your name on FlyerTalk.

Thanks for your positive contributions and for your 5000th post. Sums up what may take new posters years to glean in one post. Well done!

Awesome stuff! Things we should learn together during your next 5000 posts:
-What OSS means;
-What the MLL mac 'n cheese is actually made from;
-How one gets a giant luggage tag;
-What the Rapidair breakfast of the next decade will be;
-Etc, etc, etc

Congrats on the milestone!!
