2017 Spring Convert Promo (Mar. 13 to Apr. 17)

It's here again – a great time to convert your hotel loyalty points into Aeroplan Miles. On top of the miles you'll get when you convert your points from Mar. 13 to Apr. 17, 2017, you could get up to 30% more miles with this great offer.

Don't forget that once you've converted your hotel points, you can set things up so you earn Aeroplan Miles automatically each time you stay with our hotel partners. If you haven't already done so, just register in the hotel's loyalty program and choose Aeroplan as your earning preference.

Think how soon you could enjoy your next reward by converting your miles now!

Convert your hotel points into:

2500 - 99999 miles --> 20%
100000 - 199999 miles --> 25%
200000+ miles --> 30%

Was 30% the highest convert for previous promos as well?

From my perspective, as usual, potentially a good way to round up some stranded hotel miles that have little value and turn them in to something more valuable, at a 20% better price.

Just thought to remind those with Cdn AMEX MR, while AMEX MR is excluded again from these convert promo if you transfer "directly" to Aeroplan, but you can always go thru the SPG/Marriott route.

Here is a summary that you might have seen it before:

180K Cdn AMEX MR --> 2:1 ratio --> 90K SPG
90K SPG --> 1:3 ratio --> 270K Marriott
Order 270K Marriott Travel Package --> 120K Aeroplan + 7-nights CAT 1-5 Cert
This Convert Promo --> 25% --> 30K Aeroplan

Summary: 180K Cdn AMEX MR --> 150K Aeroplan + 7-night CAT 1-5 Cert
(so 30K Aeroplan for 7 nights hotel stay at Marriott CAT 1-5)

If you have 360K Cdn AMEX MR, then you will order qty x 2 of the Travel Package for 240K Aeroplan and hence you will qualify for the 30% bonus.

Summary: 360K Cdn AMEX MR --> 312K Aeroplan + qty x 2 of 7-night CAT 1-5 Cert
(so 48K Aeroplan for 14 nights hotel stay at Marriott CAT 1-5, or 2 rooms of 7-nights hotel stay at Marriott CAT 1-5)

Here is the link for all CAT 1-5 Marriott:

and the link for Marriott Travel Package:

alc did not know that there was even this option. Interesting. Thanks for sharing! I wish Canada had Chase UR. Or even US Amex MR partners. The dream.

until Chase UR available in Canada, you can use the same method below to order the Travel Package for 132K UA MP + 7-nights cert.

So 360 AMEX MR = 312 AE + 14 nights hotel. I didn't know that.
But they do convert to 360 AE directly, so one must consider if the hotel is worth 48 K.
As one who rarely stays more than 2-3 nights in the same hotel, the only time I could
see using a 7 night stay would be for a family vacation. Would you know how long these
hotel certificates are valid for ( time limit, or indefinite?), and if they are transferable
to others?

Does anyone know if the Marriott 7-night certificate can be used for less than 7 nights (i.e. use it for a 5-night stay and just forfeit the rest)?

Yes, they are not going to stop you from leaving the hotel a 2 days earlier.

If I book a 7-night stay and leave 2 days early, I didn't really think they would force me to stay. My question was whether there was any problem in using the certificate to just book a shorter stay up front.

So, I have enough SPG/Marriott right now for the 25% promo. I don't think I'll need my AP points anytime soon though.

Better to just wait for the fall promo, or should I transfer 25% now?

I know deals usually get better the more you wait, but I also know devaluation occurs...

I think 14 nights in a CAT 5 is worth 48k AP. But that's just me.
