PY standby could be tested to see if they even turned that functionality on just by booking a close-in flex ticket and looking at the result before the 24hr refund period expires.

I am more curious what it looks like on a route like yyz-dxb, after we have been waitlisted for J cabin and answered YES to the concierge who asks if we want them to notate we are willing to take a PY eupgrade if J ends up full. Are we ever on both waitlists? Or do they manually review the "didn't make it into J" list before closing the flight?

Yup, I'm not saying I've never seen it, but given the amount of flights I've checked in the last few days, it's quite rare.

Yes it is rare, but I would think that anyone from Y wanting to upgrade would want to upgrade to J, and if they lose then they'll take PY or not at all (to conserve credits). PY would be seated mostly by those who paid for them or redeemed for them - very few upgraders.

Hey Cow. Do you have an app that can log the lists and events?

I'd run an android emulator on a computer,

Refresh it every x minutes,

Take screenshots,

OCR the data.

You can see all this by just literally refreshing the app every minute or so around check-in close.

What data are you looking for?

156 Looks empty as a whistle. Only 2 on the waitlist with 24 booked.
This is actually proving to be quite useful for me to track which day is best to buy flex on 156 for.

Its actually interesting how they have not cleared the two people on the wait list. Do they honestly think 16 people are going to buy J in the next five hours?

Careful with that.

I've had Friday night 569s that where I snagged the last J at T-48 with a Y FP.

I've also had Friday night 569s where it was 4/14, with a least one employee in J.

Just because tonight is empty doesn't mean every Sunday night is empty.

Fair, but you know how they say it.
Gotta risk it for the biscuit

I will just build up an excel and track the two evening flights that I would always take, maybe will get some kind of high R Squared figure, what knows.
I am not particularly concerned about 8AM YYZ YVR as every time I take those morning wide body flights, would have at least 6-8 pods empty

Well, aren't you are really looking for a high R R squared figure, better expressed as a high R squared squared figure, right? Assuming you book flex.

(sorry! )

This new list thing is sure making me want to go cause trouble at the gate! As an SE booked in full Y I went from 1st to 6th! Are these all million milers? That's what I want to ask at the gate lol.

I can see one reason why they were reluctant to publish this info!

Edit: forgot to mention those two cleared on the list showed up in front of me sometime between the first and second screenshot.

What flight is that?

Same last name suggests family, but the only way I know of for an entire family to get the same priority is to either all have the same status (less likely) or to be employees (more likely).

But then last night I talked about a flight where #1 on the list was cleared after #2-4. So I think they may just be sorting it wrong.
