I thought they were standby for J as both their names were under Business available and not under economy available. My bad! Thanks cow

The names are not intended to be in columns. The formatting suggests columns but it is one single list for standby. The three numbers at the top is just a tally of whether it is full or not in each class.

If you're waitlisted for an upgrade, and your name isn't on the list, I'd talk to someone though.

Funny, I was just reading the UA thread about funny upgrade lists.
I've seen a few other interesting names. Though we have a few amusing forum members. PEE, S, etc.
At least (or "too bad") there aren't gate displays

I don't remember which thread it was in (but it should probably have been here), but I want to clarify something I was wrong about.
If you are GTE, you show up on the standby list, at the top (as you are confirmed on the flight).
I have a friend right now, flying a full J fare. J cabin was full (after IRROPS). He's GTE in Y, and #1 on the standby list. He's #2 on the upgrade list. He is *G, but no AC status.
However, the agent said he was #1 for J.
And that would make sense, given he's full fare J.
Could this be another discrepancy in the public list?
Imagine the outcry when #2 clears for the last seat ahead of you
The app also says there's 1 seat open now, so we'll find out.
Edit: He cleared as #2 on the list. The former #1 is still #1. Yet another bug in the list.

Sorry, I'm still confused by the upgrade list.
My flight is showing Capacity: 16, Booked: 11, Checked in: 10.
There are 3 names with check marks. There are 7 names (1-7).
Can I assume there are 5 seats (16 minus 11) available for upgrades?
Do the 3 names with check marks get the first 3 of the 5 available seats, leaving 2 seats for the list of 7 names? Or are the 3 names with check marks included in the 11 "booked" seats - leaving all 5 seats available for the list of 7 names numbered 1-7?
Thanks

That's actually an interesting question, and I dont think anyone will have an explanation.
The reason I say this is because ive noticed on one of my flights the following:
Available: 30 Booked: 20 Checked-in: 25
So I'm leaning on saying that the opups and upgrades go to checked in, but not in booked.
Or maybe the eups go to booked, and opups go to checked in.
Who knows really.
