ANZ Reward availability

Just wondering if anyone has been able to book any long haul reward flights on NZ.... I am looking into SFO-AKL but it seems like it will be on UA and not on NZ... any current insights or success stories?

ANZ is stingy with award space.

Why not IKK YVR-SYD and then get a cheap ticket across the ditch.

May be an easier option

Just lost SE status; trying to hit up BKK-MEL/BNE-AKL on the same trip.

Seems like the best I could do is UA J to Australia, but not sure how I can make it work....

YEG-YVR-TPE-BKK
BKK-BNE
BNE-AKL
AKL-MEL-LAX-YVR-SFO

Not sure I can stretch that in? While AKL-MEL could be viewed as back tracking YEG-YVR-TPE-BKK-BNE is 12 528miles while BNE-AKL-MEL-LAX-YVR-YEG comes in as 12 576 miles...

BNE Would be the furthest point from YEG, so maybe this could work? I see aeroplan does offer AKL-BNE-YVR-YEG as valid, so would AKL-MEL-LAX/SFO-YVR-YEG be that much of a stretch?

Would really like to avoid the UA777 and try and squeek in on the UA787 if I can not get any NZ availability...

Option 1: UA 777-200 im trying to avoid with its 2x4x2 config...

Option 2: AC 777-200 for 1000$ in YQ, thats quiet a few excursions or nice meals out, so, pass. I would rather the UA772....

Fair enough. The ANA option sounds sweet if you have US MR.

FWIW, from watching LAX-LHR availability, ANZ releases seats consistently 3 months out for that flight, I've no idea about the TPAC though.

Cheers

NZ does not release award seats on a consistent basis, even for the LAX-LHR/LHR-LAX route.

Good to know, I must've just been lucky and caught them at a good time when I was travelling a few months ago.

Cheers

You should have SE status (and then be able to book 355 days out) until Feb 28, so YVR-SYD or YVR-BNE (especially the latter) might have R space for dates that work for you

Never ever been offered Air New Zealand space on any of my TPAC flights in the past 10 years.

I managed to get a pair of J seats LAX-AKL on NZ, once, about 5 years ago, and haven't seen it again since. Flew YYZ-LAX-AKL / WLG-SYD / SYD-SFO-YYZ, all in J. I thought I hit the jackpot when I saw it come up in the Aeroplan search results. To say NZ is stingy with their TPAC reward space is somewhat of an understatement.

I got ANZ F from LAX-AKL-SYD-LAX once upon a time. Truely wonderful. A fairy godmother at AC calked ANZ directly and got it worked out. I did not question just thrilled to have it.
