This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition , and 2016 edition.
The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. More Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs or should be posted elsewhere on FT as should topics better suited to other forums such as Travel Products for questions about luggage or Travel Photography for discussion about cameras.
While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply her as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

That feeling when you have an exam in 13 hours and 27 minutes, and you're definitely not ready

in fact, in 10, 20, 30, etc. years from now, you will wake up in a cold sweat from nightmaring about this stuff and it actually feels real even after you wake up!

Or worse, the "I'm missing 4 credits for my degree" nightmare where you have to go back to school and take a missing Advanced Mathematics 412 exam. 10 years later.

I did a couple of years ago for a few minutes, until I got as far into the TN regulations that mere Community Collage was good enough for IT goons. Actually, the TN is the only thing that paperwork was useful for.

what type of collage was it? Did it include watercolor and some pastel with magazine clippings? How many people in the community helped design it?

I still have nightmares about the job I had from 1998-2000. [shudders] Never had the back at university dreams. I enjoyed those 6 years.

dont get me wrong... I also enjoyed my university years, but those acute periods of cramming and stressing is like PTSD (not to trivialize those with legit PTSD)!

How I (and a couple of other folks in my cadre) did two degrees in six years is totally unknown to me. I literally can't recall that effort without stressing out. Seems like another world.

Me two days before my international finance final that's worth 90% of course grade: Knowledge is Porridge

I guess my Physics degrees didn't require as much cramming as some programs. They were more about understanding than remembering. Prepping for exams was just summarizing the term and creating a good formula sheet. Glad I didn't take a memory intensive program. I especially don't want to enrol in a memory intensive program now. My memory is not what it was 20-25 years ago.

I had to take a security "course" (online short stupid thing) for work recently, and one of the questions was along the lines of:
"What is it called when a user can take advantage of a system to execute their own queries on a SQL database?"
A. Query bypass
B. SQL injection
C. Database vulnerability
Like... how does that demonstrate ANY knowledge? The name of the thing is COMPLETELY irrelevant to my ability to identify/prevent/exploit it. "What is SQL injection?" with a few reasonable multiple choice options would be a way better question. But no. Do it the stupid way.
It reminded me of high school.
