FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition , and 2016 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. More Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs or should be posted elsewhere on FT as should topics better suited to other forums such as Travel Products for questions about luggage or Travel Photography for discussion about cameras.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply her as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

What part of town are you staying in? My schedule's packed pretty solid, but if we somehow make firm-ish plans I'd totally try to drop in for a drink

The benefits of joining Schengen seem fairly dubious for a country that has a land border with a non-Schengen country (the UK) and none with with the Schengen area, but regardless, did they not try just Googling this?

At a micro do in SFO, my food came with a pickle.

In true MLL fashion, another FTer took it off my plate, ate it, and enjoyed it.

So many possible interpretations here but since we're talking the restaurant type, was it dill or gherkin? And what about the fries?

The pickle was salty. The fries were good with ketchup and mayo.

One of them did afterwards. The look on his face was great. It was strange because we'd had this discussion weeks ago (one of them needs a visa to go to Ireland and thought her Schengen visa would work), and they accepted what I said then.

I don't think my classmates like me very much... 🤔

Last week I managed to find pickles at a restaurant that a SE2MM actually really liked and enjoyed :O.

Wynn is home base but I'm pretty much anywhere between Aria and Encore at any point during the day.

From a hotel quality standpoint, how does Wynn compare to Venetian or Bellagio?

I'm a Harrah's status person, so I mainly stick to their properties, but have managed to stay at about half of the other hotels on the new strip.

Wynn blows both out of the water. The thing I don't like about Venetian (and Palazzo) is they try too hard to be like Wynn. It's silly because the quality of the rooms and property simply doesn't stack up. Plus the casinos aren't exactly what you'd call cozy.

Bellagio had long been one of my favourite properties, but it's obviously taking a back seat to Aria as the crown jewel of the MGM properties. Upkeep seems to be a little less than it should be and the whole property has something of a tired feel to it.

I've never stayed at Cosmopolitan, but that would probably be my next choice after Wynn / Encore. Incredible food choices, awesome bars, fantastic decor / design and insane nightlife.

Some videos, not all.
What's really awesome is it's area dependant, so while for some reason Canadian NF hasnt got Travelers and other places do you can download them all while elsewhere then watch them later. Just turn off wifi and disable data for Netflix.

the 48h counter will still reset if you go back in under wifi and won't delete them either even if out of region. Which makes me assume this isn't even frowned upon.

Its a pretty useful new feature, about time really!
