I believe that tango international fares don't include free seat selection any more, unfortunately.

thank you for getting back to me..... yes I was 35K 2017. After holding on for so long and speaking with two AC people, I was told AC did not send these emails, and I had better be careful accepting ! I then spent more time explaining that it is def from AC email .... the operator put me on hold, went and checked with "supervisor" and came back to advise that they are not aware of such thing as "buy status".

Just in case anybody reading this thread is actually worried, I'm 100% certain AC sent these emails out. All the links in the email point to "http://t.emails.aircanada.com/r/" which then redirects to "http://aircanada.demdex.net/event" which then redirects to "https://ad.doubleclick.net/ddm/clk/" and then finally lands at "https://storefront.points.com/air-canada-altitude/en-CA/buy?acid=". There is no question in my mind that AC sent out these emails. The customer service email above is just a fun game for all of us here

Is laundering the status buy up through Points.com new? I can't recall if that was the case in round 1 for 2018 status buy up offer.

Is there someone who has bought up who has received their upgraded status? How long did it take?

FYI, my double transaction was just yesterday, and I've already received an apology and was notified the duplicate charge has been reversed. Now, all I need is confirmation that my status has actually been upgraded.
Also - I feel it would be absolutely appropriate for this payment to count as AQD just like the instant upgrades.

I was hoping for an offer but didn't get one.
Exceeded AQD, fell 9-10K AQM short.
