I can only speak for my case. If they were smart, they'd have variable pricing to entice people to pay.

For me - I really believe it makes a difference for upgrading, and I like having the lounge guests, and using lounges outside of the country. Priority baggage is also a big deal. So - worth it.

*G with global MLL access and able to eUp some lower TATL fares to PY . Not to mention additional eUps/mileage bonus.
Depends upon your flying habits, if you fly within NA on AC only I'd venture not but that's just MHO. Also depends how much you are flying before March 2019.

That said, I wonder how cheap a 5 segment run would have been, AQD was only $120 off so some sort of YYJ YVR YLW YYC YYZ YYJ might have been doable for < $1099 (+tax).

Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Just got the offer of $399 to go P25K

I missed the miles requirement by 707 miles. Got 24,293 for the year. (97%)

Spent $4,375.41 total w/ $3K being the threshold for P25K as you all know.

I'm going to pass.

Well I guess AC would say the difference is worth $2,000 since that's the difference in AQD between the two levels, so they are offering a special discount for some to bridge that gap.

I just got an offer to go to 75K for $949.

Last year I did 73K with north of $20K spend. So that was a hard no on spending more.

Plus I am over 40K flown already this year, I’ll probably be 75K by summer anyway.

You’d think Air Canada would already understand this and maybe tailor the offer. I can’t imagine how they think someone in my position would find that price compelling.

This is the story of AC, poor IT systems, bad upgrade windows, lack of testing. Clearly whoever generated the list of customers to email didn't check their current status in 2018. Or perhaps I'm being too harsh and they specifically hoped some customers overlooked that "I'm already 35k in 2018".

Let's give them a bit of a break on this... I'm just impressed with how creative they are in finding new revenue. They've identified things customers want, and provided ways for us to give them money. So, the tool is in place, potentially successful, and now they can add tweaks to maximize.

If I was Jack's dad... I would have probably gifted E50K to his sister.

(Just to see him squirm a bit for fun)

Given the other thread on this topic indicates the OP in question ended up getting two receipts and had issues actually giving AC his money I'm still not impressed.

I had no issues giving them my money, they just took it twice. So, yes - I agree they need to make sure things work... but, the innovation is there.

Hello - thank you for saying this Andrew... I received the offer to Step Up at year end.. and thought it was a mistake . Today I received an email offering to buy status for $799. 00 , yet when I check my Altitude and AC profile - I am shown as Elite 35. On the other hand - I have booked several trips for business and personal this year - and each time I tried to select seats - I had to pay as if I had no status. Last night I booked a trip to Italy and was asked to pay for seat selection. Have been on hold for over half hour now to clarify. Any guidance is appreciated. thanks

Until March 1, it will continue to show your status from last year. I'm assuming you were 35k in 2017?

I believe that tango international fares don't include free seat selection any more, unfortunately.
