AC to allow status buy-up

I received the offer as 'was nearly at E35" to buy E35k status for $599. This was based on my AQM at 30th Nov. Since then I've reached 35781 AQM so the offer is redundant. Interestingly, clicking through the buy link it would seem to let me go through the whole transaction even though I already have enough AQM for E35k next year. So AC won't stop someone being stupid if it means they can take some $$?
Sadly I don't think they'll offer me a buy up to E50k (which I'll lose on Mar 1 next year) and even if they did the price is probably too much to pay. In general I think that spending money to attain a status without the bother of mileage runs - and actually using seats that AC can sell to actual travelers - is a reasonably smart move. As ever, the devil is in the detail and implementation & thats where I suspect it'll fall apart.

It'd make no sense if AC don't re-run the checks to offer late E35s the chance to buy up to E50.
It does make sense from a business viewpoint and for some it can be helpful. Especially at this time of year it's not just the cost that most people need to consider, it's how much time one can get off work. Clicking buttons is much more temping to many that cramming into 5 Dash8's over two days a week before Christmas.
Given they list no refunds, and we're dealing with AC IT, the fact that it'll let you buy it even when you already qualify is no surprise.

There is (as many have said) nothing being offered for 75k or 100k, or at least nothing is showing in AWS at this time.

I also got the same offer and have about the same mileage/AQD that you have, but I don't have any future travel plans this year.
Can't see me paying $599 for E35--if anyone thinks it is worth it , let me know. My 2017 flying will likely be about the same, maybe a bit more.

I'd seriously consider it given the extra luggage allowance at 35k. I'm an archaeologist so most of my summer flights involve me using all three checked piece and all of them are near the max weight. I'd be spending a decent bit of change just on luggage without being minimum 35k.
Other than that, I'm not sure what value 35k offers that would drive me to buy the up.

Otherwise, the main differences between 25 and 35 are:
- Domestic / Transborder lounge access
- 10 extra eUps (and a longer booking window)
- Zone 2 boarding
Those items will have different value for everyone.

Very true. I forgot there was no lounge access at 25k. That would also be a big draw for me given my connections at YYC or YVR going between LAX and YEG.

Awww, some PeeverSkeptics here must be in shock.
I'm sure there will be more naysayers the next time he posts something fakey fake.

I also thought that this was good idea by AC. ^

So it seems like you can only buy up one level from your current status, P25K for 399$, E35K for 599$, E50K for 799$.
Should I bet on E75K being 999$ and SE100K being 1199$?
I would expect SE100K to be more than that though, based on the huge difference in benefits between god-like SE status and mere mortal E75K.

I wish AC would do this sooner.
We had the AQM required but was $200-300 short AQD off SE, Why dont they just let us pay them 200 as opposed to incur cost for AQD runs lol.
Also IDK why they would send it out now, January 3rd would make more sense once the dust settles.
