Oh, believe me, I have thought about doing this far too many times...

It wouldn't be very difficult for him (us) to get E75K if we combined our mileage lol

His first name is my middle name, but I can't imagine an airport agent would question me too much on that. I actually go by my middle name (one of those people) and only use my first name for official things. marke190 has told me I could easily get away with this many times also

I wouldn't even need his old ID, it would be easy enough to use my own.

At YYT, almost all of the agents recognize me, so there is no way anyone tries to fly as me or me trying to fly as someone else.

Now that you just described how easy it is for you to get away with it, you should offer up your service as a good son would do. . Better yet, fly to YWK via YUL, YQB and YZV and see if you can land a good internship position there.

The unfortunate thing about this is that I know a number of agents who work at the airport...

So as usual my SE qualification activities are happening late in the year...this year I received a E75K buyup offer, after I had already achieved E75K. Initially the link worked and would take my money, not anymore however. IIRC it was around $1k they wanted.

Well, you're about 49,949 AQM short of the 50K AQM threshold. $12K AQD for only 51 AQM is some pretty expensive flying!

I understand your sense of humour. Maybe it would of been more precise for me to include a "K" in my AQM.

So let me rephrase, I am at 51,764 AQM, 37 AQS and 3044AQD and I live in the USA. I say this since AQD requirements are divided by 2 for US residents members of the altitude program.
Still at P25K and confused why no sweep to 35K or 50K has been done.

So, I'm waiting for my 75k sweep, as I've crossed that threshold, and today I got an email reminder to elevate my status via buy up based on November 24th. Most amusing.

My son who was waiting for his 75th flight in the lounge (having checked in) received the email email offering him a buy up to 75 k for $1000 being one segment short.

Hello! It's my first post here, but thought I'd add my offer. Since I'm new I can't edit the wiki, so if someone would like to add my details that would be great.

I'm currently 25K and met 35K requirements just slightly after the Early Recognition date, sadly, but will look forward to 35K for 2020... unless I go 50K.

My offer for 50K is $1,099 and I'm currently at 43K / 24 segments / $5k

I'm finding this a tough call for a few reasons... I do a lot of international and partner airline flying so having *G would be a major benefit (because my company's policy is lowest fare, my actual in flight mileage is double my AQM since I only earn 50%) I carry the Amex Platinum card as my main travel card, so I do already have access to all the priority pass lounges, but *G lounges are generally better (although I do have access to Lufthansa Business Lounges in Munich and Frankfurt with the Amex).

I am mostly curious how much *G effects gate upgrades (not eUpgrade). I've had gate upgrades from Economy to Premium Econo with Lufthansa even with *S, but wonder if I could expect that more with *G and how frequent that really is? I've also been on mostly empty flights and don't see any upgrade...

from what I understand, carriers upgrade first and foremost their elites before any other *A elites.
That being said, I was in J on a FRA-YUL this summer and LH swapped last minute an A340 for a A332 with more J seats. The guy next to me was a gate upgrade and was a 50K (AC/*G) flying on LH on a LH ticket. So you might get lucky from time to time.

Not sure when it got posted (I see your comment was from a few weeks ago), but FWIW this is now available on the altitude site.

No changes from 2019 (that I can see)

25K Buy-up, eUpgrade Value / Advice Sought

To date I have not been concerned with AC status. On the few occasions I fly AC it is from YYZ and I just book PY, J or a preferred seat in econ (to get more space and board earlier).

Last year it seems I came close and they have offered me a top-up price of $380. Doesn't seem to be worth for me unless the eUpgrades have real value. Is it likely that I would be make use of them? Am i missing anything else?

thanks in advance for your thoughts.

My semi detailed response got lost in this being moved. So I'll just give the conclusion:

At 25k your attempt window would be very small (2-3 days vs up to 14 for SEs). If you manage to upgrade a single long haul flight for free (well, $380), it would be worth while. But I'd also not be surprised if you failed to upgrade even a single flight between the short window and low priority.

What is your flying pattern? Where do you fly to usually with AC.

Status Buy Up in 2020

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

Just wondering if anyone knows if AC will offer a buy up for altitude in 2020, from previous credit in 2019. I travel once or twice a month on the same route and fell short by 1 AQS for altitude 25K. I have over $9000 AQD, but only 5600 AQM and of course 24/25 AQS. I contacted altitude and air canada through twitter, and the best answer i got was to "watch my email in the coming weeks". Anyone have input on my issue?

Thanks,

LIH
