Meanwhile, I've passed the requirements for E50K.
Exact same thing there. I’ve passed the requirements for E50K, got the email today, but get the message that the offer is unavailable.

I hope the next sweep to update Altitude statuses happens soon!

I just got a buy-up E75K offer moments ago...even thought I qualified 28DEC, and AQD crossed the threshold 6 days ago.

AC IT strikes again.

New to FT, hi everyone!
It seems I got one of the few legit buy-up offers today to move to E35K for $779. I qualified for P25K as of Nov 30th, but haven't been swept yet so maybe they were waiting to see if I had done AQS/AQD run at the end of the year. I finished the year with
16371 AQM
29 AQS
3868 AQD

I was close to 35K on AQD, but to make up the 6 segments in late December didn't make sense cost/benefit wise. Ironically when I priced it out, it was around the $750 mark. This was all personal travel this year, so all on Tango fares at 25/50%. If I had done Flex on all of them I would have easily been over 35k AQM. Oh well

As with others, I’d also received a reminder for a buy up after meeting the requirements for that status level from flights on Dec 27 (posted around Dec 30). Well done, AC IT.

Perhaps they could focus on sweeps for people who could use the eupgrades rather than sending buy-up offers to people who had met the status requirements weeks ago.

Got buy-up offer today.
Buy up to 75K for $999.
Had 72K AQM; 41 AQS; 19K AQD.

Was trying to quantify the value to me. There's some intangible value to eupgrades and higher standing on upgrade/standby lists, but the only quantifiable part is the extra 25% bonus miles. Assume I fly 72K again, that's an extra 18K miles or 5.5 cpm.

My stats for 2018:

AQM 73,158
AQS 36
AQD $8,164

Offered status buy up to E75K for $799....hard no.

I received status for the first time this year! A lowly P25K with 95% Tango fares.

My stats for 2018:

AQM 14,404
AQS 27 (23 on AC and 4 on United)
AQD $7,129.43 (The number that AC really cares about)

Offered status buy up to E35K for $779 + tax I passed. Not worth it.

How much of that was Canada domestic flights? Based on the sheer number of pesos last year spent and the 4 flights on UA metal, I would suspect you could've gotten Gold or better on UA's program which would confer lounge access amongst other things? N.B. UA doesn't care about money spent on UA flights so long as you aren't a US resident.

Safe Travels,

James

Thanks! A total of 17 flights were domestic and 6 were US or International. I did some math and even if the flights were credited for 100% mileage, I would have tapped out at 32k, enough for Silver tier. It seems that United follows Air Canada's fare class rates based on discount economy now. https://thepointsguy.com/2017/08/uni...iance-flights/

Thanks - the 2nd has been quite a change (oldest is 2.5). We've settled into the new normal now, but big change that we can no longer play "hot potato" and pass off the little one to the other :P

If you took a travel break for the birth of a child they'll likely give you a break.

Altitude Status Extension for Parental Leave
Thanks again @WaytoomuchEurope - as an update, I did reach out to Altitude Parents, and just heard back that they're granting me the E35K status for 2019! I only had to provide the birth certificate (as I only took 2 weeks vacation from work, and didn't actually go on "parental leave", there wouldn't have been any letter that could be provided from my office). It was enough to just describe in the e-mail that I basically 2.5 months (1 month before, 1.5 months after) off traveling, which they could see based on my history. I'm sure the $20k+ AQD helped... either way, thanks for the advice! I fly a lot of short haul YYZ-LGA trips in economy, and the Zone 2 boarding definitely makes a difference (probably biggest benefit for me going from P25K to E35K). Another FT win! Thanks and cheers!

Looking at those number, I wonder where my offer is

36220 AQM
18 AQS
3970 AQD

There is no way I would be paying $779 - but now I don't even feel special anymore

Thrilled it worked out for you and again, congrats on the little one. I have 6.67 so I know all about the difficulty of not being able to pass one off to my wife.

I do it anyway, but I know it's difficult for her

Wait, you were only $30 short on AQD to be E35K? Maybe they'll just give it to you?

I’m sure someone can find a post to prove me wrong but every single offer I’ve seen was well beyond AQD and AQM/AQS was in the 80-85% range.

I don’t personally recall a offer where AQD wasn’t met. But at $30, it’s possible. Although the I need $5 AQD thread springs to mind. Did you check all your AQD has posted (at all) and what has is correct?

Yes, wonderful right? lol

I scanned through the flights. The AQD seems correct. I guess I could do a more thorough investigation and look back at my tickets.
