Given the people AC's hired in the last 2 years, it seems like more Opsresearch/stats types who are building models that might not be as linear as just AQM or AQD. Not sure it's worthwhile to reverse-engineer this.
Was sitting next to a optimization postdoc carrying an AA business card a few months back chatting about baggage algorithms. Difficult conversation to have many woodfords in, but was invited to sign an NDA and check stuff out. I'm sure, looking at the profiles of recent AC hires, there's similar activity going on...
This is all a good thing. I want to see everything work back to monetization, back to a single currency: money. AC is not a country.
Edit: I'd think anyone who buys up a level, and doesn't change purchase behaviour this year, will not be targeted the subsequent year.

Sure, but there are also SEs who don't even know what IKK is. AC presumably has the data on how many SEs actually use IKK privileges in the most costly fashion. It's not a huge stretch to say if someone like yourself were to drop to E75K, you might not be the recipient of a $1600 buy-up offer given your AC metal AE redemption history.

I realize that it is just semantics, but, even if the hourly rate is accurate, someone who makes 14.00 per hour will cost their employer much more that that with payroll load and other costs.

I think the real value based on the discussion in this thread is the availability of IKK and surcharge-free rewards. Provided one has the requisite Aeroplan miles, it could be very wise indeed to buy up for those two benefits alone.

I wonder if I'll get an offer to buy up from SE to VIP?

I know this is a newbie question, and I AM a newbie, but not an irresponsible one, honest! I've searched the FT Glossary and IKK is not listed in it. I've tried to glean hints from every thread where this is mentioned, but no luck. I only became P25 in 2016, then discovered FT a few months ago. It helped me to get E35 for 2017, and I'm shooting for E50/E75 for 2018, thanks to the knowledge I've gained from this board in just a short few months. I've learned all about PNRs, CATSA, YQ, and pickles...but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what IKK is!

OK I give up. What DOES IKK stand for?

Let's not forget that SE are the only ones getting SE-AC*G on their *A boarding passes. E75 are getting *S
And of course, Zone 1 snowflake powers

AQD is mostly comprised of what? Actual costs of delivering conveyance? What are margins like at AC? Is it really fuel driven and thus this pay-for-play might be the ONLY way an airline can make money reliably?
Might have to sex it up more... should sunglasses on livery, at night even... good Canadian music...
