It could either sit in my hotel room for a couple of hours or in the lounge. Breakfast wasn't being served for free in my hotel, so it was a no-brainer for me.

The walk between terminals is rather long, for sure. You really need to leave some extra time.
which airport?

I am currently in the Polaris lounge, about to enjoy the Eggs Benedict from the menu. Both agents, at the lounge check-in, advised me that tomorrow is the last day where A.C. passengers to Canada will have access to this lounge.

Good to know, thanks. I almost forced a trip through ORD just to try this lounge next month but ultimately chose a shorter itinerary. I wish they would publish these things.

I wonder if this decision comes from UA or AC. Is UA charging AC the same rate when an Altitude member enters a Polaris lounge as for a regular UA club? Or does UA want to keep the lounge more 'exclusive'?

They would be charging the same rate, as all *G/Business Class lounges are consider identical for rate purposes, and Polaris is a Business Class lounge. Note, Altitude status wouldn't be relevant, as it's not a *G lounge.

Seriously, is anyone surprised at all that this was taken away?

A little bit. I can't think of any other *A lounges that allow all other airline's passengers except for one.

So just to make sure I do understand correctly, a P fare on AC Metal from ORD to YYZ/YUL can't get in any more?

Not really, although I was slightly surprised that UA would bother changing the policies after several months since I doubt AC pax are clogging up the lounge, and at the end of the day UA earns as much from an AC J pax as from another *A pax.
