YYZ to LIM with Rouge has to go. Why AC has done this is a mystery - no one in their right mind would do that return trip, which is an overnight, in Rouge.

I was wondering why it took a month for this news to surface in this thread. Thought maybe nobody wanted to highlight service reductions, in which AC is not doing as well as hoped. BR and CI still fly the route year-round daily, with high passenger loads and full aircraft bellies.

First thought - surprising. CI and BR both seem to do quite well on this route! Plus BR offers a great onboard product for those connecting.

However, I've connected AC/BR in TPE and am seriously unimpressed by the airport. Remote stands for many (in my experience) BR flights, long bus rides, cramped gate areas, not enough washrooms, etc. Compared to hubs like NRT, ICN, and HKG, TPE can't compete.

I've flown from/to TPE airport 20 times over the last 2 years and never had remote stands (flying CX/AC/BR/OZ/SQ/JL) except once with Hainan (HU) - but HU uses remote stands whenever possible at all airports. There is a noticeable difference in facilities and design between T1 and T2; luckily AC departs from T2 alongside BR. I agree with you regarding ICN, HKG, and NRT, but that's more of a comment on how good those hubs have become (HND more so than NRT) than something against TPE. TPE still beats any Mainland Chinese airport or KUL or BKK, in my opinion. I can't say I'd spend any more money to transit NRT/ICN/HKG versus TPE if it comes down to just airport, unless sightseeing in the city is a factor in which I'd favor the place I haven't been the longest or by weather. TPE is additionally favorable because I rate BR J above NH or OZ J and because TPE is warm this time of year (around 15-20C) versus negative temperatures in Japan or Korea.

Alas AC uses the BR lounge (Infinity Star), which usually has inedible or low quality food, except for its hot dogs and ice cream. It's a bit sad for a flagship lounge (other than gimmicky funky design), but then again let's take a look at the MLLs and they don't even have that going for them.

Here's my comments on Rouge, based on my last trip.

Took mainline YYC-YYZ (and return) on big birds (A330, B767), and then took rouge YYZ-MBJ / return on the B767.

My rouge flights were both on time (or within 20 minutes of scheduled arrival once in air). Service was normal, crew was cheery. Seats were fine. Maybe a bit tighter than the mainline birds but nothing that bothered me significantly.

Same catering, same drinks.

My mainline flights both had delays, one 3 hours, one 1+ hours. Crews were scattered and seemed stressed with issues. Probably due to the probs with both birds and time of day (nighttime), wasn't first flight of the day for the crews.

Unless you are flying up front, other than the entertainment, the service is pretty similar. I can tolerate the slightly smaller seats on the rouge birds for the cost savings.

*cue rants from J class flyers... lol*
